So when I add in a digital image, I still like to keep some of it traditional to blend my styles together well. In this instance, I first sketched out Coraline on a separate piece of paper roughly the size of what I made the tunnel. 

Then I created the lineart with my Tombow Fudenosuke Brush pen and Uni-Pin ink liner in 0.4. 

As you can see there's a lot of texture and it's still kind of off-white so I have to clean it up and make the lineart transparent so I can color underneath. 

I do all my cleanup on Adobe Photoshop-- I use the Levels to adjust the contrast of the black/white and make things crisp (I may also make the black into a different color later in the coloring stage). I also use the Heal tool to get rid of any specs of dust that were on my scanner at the time I scanned it. 

With this done, it's time to color!
