This month we offer up 3 songs from Tyson's home recordings. - "Totally Lost My Mind" - "Electro Shock" - "Gotta Get Healthy" - These songs were recorded sometime between 2006 - 2008 while Tyson was still in college. They were originally part of a "Single of the Month Project" where Tyson would record and release a song, at first once a month and then periodically, via an e-mail distribution list.

Although these songs were never meant to be played live, an early iteration of Fantastic Plastics included a version of "Totally Lost My Mind" in the set. These songs are a bit more experimental, moody, funny, and self reflective when compared the typical FP songs you've heard previously.

"Totally Lost My Mind" features a drum / clap sample from "Catch My Disease" by Ben Lee. There's a reference to an Ed Wood movie in the lyrics "I Woke Up Early the Day I Died". There's also a weird tie-in between this song and Gotta Get Healthy with the mention of eating too many burgers and fries, a college dinner staple back then. This song features a trippy ending with some haunting synth and vocals.

"Electro Shock" - This was one of those songs where there were a couple of good ideas that didn't belong together that ended up getting smashed together anyway. The opening lyrics: "Load up on drugs and kill your friends" is a reference to an appearance Nirvana made on a European talk show where they sang "Smells Like Teen Spirit" over backing tracks while mimicking the performance.  Kurt Cobain sings alternate lyrics in a voice an octave lower than normal, and they all hilariously pretend to play their instruments in comedic fashion. Worth looking up on YouTube if you have time.

"Gotta Get Healthy" - not too much to say about this song other than it's weird, it's inspired by The Beach Boys song "Vegetables" and it was written shortly after getting a yearly physical exam in which the doctor indicated it might be good to change up the ol' diet and exercise routine for a longer healthier life.

*** Fun Fact*** Each of these 3 songs features someone named Matt doing vocal harmonies... a different Matt for each song!

We hope you enjoy these!  There are wav and mp3 versions attached here:

Thank you all!
