Hey everyone. Hope you enjoy this update for December.

I didn't play much of note in November so I decided to, instead, reveal my game of the year picks!

Lemme know what you think, below.

(Sorry about the audio bug at the beginning. iMovie for iPad is a bit broken).

For me, the game of the year is Undertale. It's charming, with unforgettable characters and story, a great soundtrack, and it definitely is a great example of why videogames are a unique medium or art. I won't publicly tell the reasons to support that last statement because it would be an unforgivable spoiler, although I'd really like to talk about it. Also, it just amazes me that it was done by only one person. People also judge it too early because of its graphics. In fact, a friend of mine couldn't believe its extremely positive user reviews on Steam. He just kept seeing the screenshots and the user's reviews and saying he didn't understand it. I thought my game of the year would be Xenoblade Chronicles X, because I truly loved the first Xenoblade Chronicles on Wii (did you played it?) –it became my favorite RPG of the decade or something like that :P–. But I've been playing three days and although it's a great game which shows that a lot of work and effort has been put into its development, it don't feel the same as with the first game. Not only that, but also the story starts boring and kind of ridiculous in some ways, in contrast to the first game which began in an absolutely epic way. The OST and art direction are also worse in my opinion. Of course, it isn't all bad: The graphics, world, gameplay and metagame depth have become even more huge. And it gets better the more you play. Well, sorry about that Xenoblade digression! I really enjoyed the video ;)

Excellent list. This is very much how I feel about video games. The big titles like Metal Gear and Fallout are good but usually towards the bottom of the top 10. I really value interesting games that seem to have a more clear purpose and really pull it off. Super Mario Maker has been one of the most special games for me ever. I've made levels for friends before but that's it, no way to really get it out there and see how people feel about it. I've had developers enjoy my stages, you've tweeted one of my out, and just making all new friends because they visited my stage randomly and really enjoyed it. It's the most rewarding experience I've had making stages and was a very good taste and game design.

I should say I'm no way a game developer. I just love your series. If I had lots of time, I'd probably like to make a game, but I'm such a perfectionist it would probably never be released. I just really find the development side of games extremely interesting and understanding it more makes games more enjoyable. Super Mario Maker is the perfect example. Everyone might think Mario is easy, anyone can make that game, but it turns out it is so hard to capture the fun and magic that Nintendo has done. And then to do it time and time again for 30 years and to have 100's of stages in a single game that have a consistent feel. So hard to do and I respect them massively for it.
