Golden Guardian Volume #4 : Gold Vs. Beryl Part 2 (Patreon)
Content
Issue 4 of the Golden Guardian continues:
Many punches and blows were traded throughout the coming minutes. Blood and bruises were made to both sides of this bloodbath. Never had Gold had such an issue against an opponent before.
"What's wrong? I was told you would be stronger than this!" Beryl shouted out for all to hear, with such brash behaviour that even the people watching were perplexed. Each swing she took, was wide and heavy. Gusts of wind carried behind every punch, even if a blow was dodged, the aftermath felt like a hurricane after each follow through.
It was clear that Gold was far quicker than Beryl was. Yet, even with multiple more punches and hits to her frame, her body refused to buckle. With each hit, she just seemed to get more amped, more pumped, as if she was revving up like an engine. Until she stopped moving and stood still. Gold took this opportunity to land a monstrous blow straight to her liver. A massive shockwave and crunch were heard, as well as cracks forming in the ground and the building behind her from the aftermath of the shot. Everything went silent as dust swept over them both...
"Is that it?...Is that all you can muster?"
The dust faded, and inches away from golds face was beryl's, she had hunched over, staring deep into his eyes. No, this was wrong, she was looking at something else, deep, through him.
"For an Apostle, you sure are weak Gold". In that instant, Beryl's hand slammed the ground in front of Gold. Thankfully, he was wise enough to back off, else that attack would have landed straight atop his head. She stood back up, with perfect posture, as if she was just testing Gold, as if this was nothing more than child's play to her. Simply amusing her own personal interests in his endeavour to subdue her.
"I have no idea what you are talking about" Gold exclaimed. He pressed one leg forward and took a guarding stance.
Beryl smirked, "You are one of very few, 12 in fact, and have far more reach than you realize." Beryl rose her hand, with it open, as if using it as a pointing gesture which was aimed to the crowd.
"I'm surprised you didn't even realize walking through the crowd Gold. Don't you find it odd, that they haven't ran away? They simply backed off and have watched us this whole time". Gold remained silent but took a fast glance around him. She was right, they were just watching, staring at them both, honestly in utter awe by them, as if they weren't human.
"That is the influence we have Gold, simply our presence around people, can change the course of the future for them if we deem wanting".
Gold recalled Diamond explaining to him about apostles, his memory was faded on the topic however. Though, he did recall, Apostles were a small set of beings that were known to draw people to them, like a moth to flame. They basically effected reality around them, being good or bad, they effected the very lives of the people around them. So much so, that people look at these beings as godly figures in a sense. As such, being an Apostle can come with great power and great responsibilities. The name Apostle isn't really used in this sense, but there are definitely a few around the world using this ability to gain power in their country of origin. Acting as a religious figure to bolster their reputations. Was Beryl one of these types Gold pondered. He spat at the ground.
"I'm not the type to try and manipulate humans for my own satisfaction."
Beryl's brow twitched, "I see, well, my boss ain't gonna' like that. We were reaaalllly hoping you would come in quietly." Beryl's demeanour changed in an instant. Her body started to grow larger and heat blasted off of her frame. "Let me show you what happens, when you mess with Apostle number 10, the Hell Hound, Beryl!" She took an open handed stance and roared. the shout, bellowing through the buildings and quaking the very ground beneath them. All the people around collapsed from the pressure she emitted in this form.
Gold leaned forward, "Fine, have it your way. Allow me to beat that obnoxious attitude out of you, and see things MY way." He emitted a gold aura and the ground started to shake.
"Lets see then, just how tough the supposed Hound of Hell actually is."
