The Progress of Version 0.3 (29 July 2022: War Camps, Maps, and Invasion Plans) (Patreon)

Greetings Conquerors!

I've been hard at work this week updating the war system and I have now implemented quite a few of the changes I discussed in previous posts. 

WAR CAMPS

From now on, upon selecting your banner, you will be given this message:

This will allow you to choose a color that you want attributed to your faction. For now this only affects the color of tents in war camps, which you will set up when you want to invade a hold. HUGE Shoutout to Simdrew1993 for providing the meshes for the tents.

War camps are effectively the base of operations for your armies in each hold. When you send out an army to patrol in a hold, they will be stationed at the camp and that's where you can find them if you need to speak to them (this is mainly for convenience, if you explore around that hold you will also find them patrolling around the hold as well). 

The other factions also have war camps and as soon as they invade your territory, they will set up a war camp to house their armies.

After they set up camp, their main goal is to remove your armies from the hold. They will do this by attacking your camp in the hold, to which the troops you sent to patrol will show up to defend it.

They will attack with the entire army that they sent into the hold. If they win, your camp is destroyed and they take Land Superiority, allowing them to attack your fort and city in the hold. If you defeat them, you will have defeated their army in the hold and their invasion of the hold has failed. You will also take some of their troops prisoner.

WAR MAPS

You remember those war maps that you can find in pretty much every palace, fort, and camp? Well now they have a purpose more than adding map markers to your map! You may now use them for what they were meant for, moving your armies!

Firstly, you'll notice a change in the flags themselves on the map. Instead of the boring red, blue, and black triangles you see, I have replaced them with the proper banners of each faction:

But looking at this big map doesn't tell you a whole lot about your troops does it? What if you could zoom in on a specific region and get info about your armies in that region and what they're assigned to? Well now you can!

When you zoom in on a hold, you will be able to select any of your holdings to manage the armies that you place in it. 

No more clicking through a bunch of menus to garrison your armies in your cities!

INVASION PLANNING

Right now this part is in its early stages of development but I'm also planning on allowing you to use the war map to plan invasions into holds, cities, and forts instead of just talking to your general about it. You'll only be able to use the armies in the hold that the thing you are attacking is in so you will need to strategize where to move your armies.

I've applied this to forts and now attacking forts have a similar attacking start as cities where you meet up with your armies outside of the fort before you launch the attack.

Now we get into the MOST IMPORTANT CHANGE OF ALL:

When you begin an attack, the commander you talk to now blows a horn to signal to the troops it's time to attack! It also tells the enemy that their doom is incoming.

Well that's all for this week! So far version 0.3 is progressing pretty well. I don't want to give an anticipated release date because I really don't want to rush this as it changes quite a lot and I need time to ensure it doesn't break.
