Oh my god I am so happy Alex brought up Dead Heat. Its mostly the people who were behind the camera on Aliens that made it, including some of the makeup and visual effects people. The behind the scenes stuff on the Vinegar Syndrome release is great, and the guy who did the effects in that butcher shop scene talks about how he became a vegetarian afterwards because they were molding off of -and sometimes just using- butcher shop parts for that sequence.

You're correct on the paper clip trick, Brad. It was basically a swap disk mod chip that was plugged into the serial port. You'd put a valid Playstation Disk in with the paper clip holding the analog button down in the system that basically said the lid was closed (It was literally just a peg molded to the system disk cover that would hold it down), turn the system on, then the swap disk would stop the disk from spinning after boot so you could put your import or burned disk in and resume.
