I've been enjoying your reactions to this season so much Alana, and I know this second half will absolutely hit all the right spots. Can't wait!

Snake is soo unbelievably fascinating as a character. You can tell that there is a lot of kindness there and he hides it ‘well’. Though Thorfinn definitely caught on when Snake tries to deflect. Yukimura really does love writing ‘gentleness’ in all its shades. And now we officially know what he has been reading since 2x3. Being able to read, let alone the bible, means that you had a great education for those times. The bible was really only written in Greek or Latin and he is having to translate it to Norse so Sverkel (and a curious Thorfinn) will be able to understand it. Also Bibles would be ridiculously expensive as a possession as it would only typically be seen in a church. Further reinforcing the wealth of this farm. I can not express how much the dinner table scene means to me. Very similar to how I feel about the dinner table scene in 2x6. We as an audience know what’s coming and you just want to keep this lil family as safe as possible. And for me it’s a great call back to Thorfinn eating Canute’s food in 1x15. Same unabashed delight. One of the few times in Thorfinn’s boyhood years that he seemed at peace. Also can I just express how much I love you watching Thorfinn flourish as a person. It’s kinda magical to watch him exist as his true authentic self. Curious and eager to gain as much as he can through his environment. His relationship with Einar (don’t get me started or I might start crying) and his joy of creating bonds with people around him… it’s honestly beautiful.

As always, your reaction to Thorfinn laughing/being happy was great lol!

Anime of the year for me.

Not sure if you've watched E17 yet, but if you come across the phrase "going adventuring" in the subtitles, a more accurate translation would be "becoming a viking". Just something to keep in mind while watching the episode :)

Enjoyed the extra bit of commentary from you this episode, especially the beginning with your thoughts on the season so far. Can't wait for more!

new OP hypeeeee

april 🍏

You tearing up whenever Thorfinn is happy is so me lmao

24xhibit .

if you rewatch the first episode of the season, you see a master hitting a slave. That slave is Gardar. You also hear the "carve it" poem, while s blacksmith is forging his weapon, that is also Gardar.

24xhibit .

subtle callback to the first episode, and a turning point for the show, seeing how the slave has become the master and the master has become the slave. and the whole second part of the season is that battle and its outcome. which the character of Gardar tries to portray. (along with many other characters and their resolutions)
