AHH the ending is so good!! Hyped for Vinland Saga and Wotakoi next!

Tunnel Rat

Literally peak. One of the most satisfying endings ever and even if there won’t be a season 2, I think they ended it off in a rewarding way. But as an LN reader, I hope there will more seasons to come because there’s still so much left and this season only covered volumes 1-3 (which is basically the prologue as volume 2-3 cover the last chapter and epilogue of volume 1) with the LN still ongoing with 12 volumes. Believe me when I say it only gets better from here. Happy you enjoyed the anime though. Always nice to have more people watch this masterpiece; whilst not underrated, definitely underwatched compared to other shows. I wouldn’t expect a season 2 any time soon seeing how packed A1 is right now and them putting Nier on indefinite hiatus certainly doesn’t bode well. But we’ll see; earliest maybe being 2024.

AkdrzlLOL

One of my favourite anime oat, definitely top 10🤝🏾the beautiful osts to the amazing story and characters. The last 2 episodes especially have to be some of my favourite oat. Hopefully we do get a season 2.

AkdrzlLOL

Vinland saga is 10/10 for me🤧also nice may picture🤝🏾

Fars

Easily top 3 anime for me, hope we get good news for next month event

виина

did you notice Kurenas foot on the foto at the end? :D

jacksan1

It will be interesting to see what they will do and say during the October 1 "Reading Stage 86." Because six of the show's main VAs will be participating and there will be an after-the-show talk segment, we may (or may not) get a hint as to whether there is any plan for another season.

Luis Arispe

I'm not crying...you're crying. That final with "LilaS" sounding is....P E R F E C T I O N!!!. Damm Aniplex. You're torturing us. No confirmation of a second season and that finale smells like a no go. Asato says that a second season not depends on her. 86 has become an cult show that was praise and constantly has events. Asato pockets are full of money of the amount of sales of ligth novels and merch. I don't understand that there's no info of season 2. Please Aniplex...pleaseeeeeeee!!!!! Now that this ended, I recomend to all of you that watch this gentleman videos. It's the most comprehensive analisys I've seen of the simbolysm of this show. To appreciate the quality of this masterpiece. Here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dn1f0zKh7O8&list=WL&index=25&t=11s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gC5IUw1s33g&list=WL&index=24&t=7s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvPiyCYLj9g&list=WL&index=23 And.....the mistery of FIDO continues. Season 1 adapted 3 volumes of the LN. There's 12 volumes. Love watching this show with you Alana. Thank you.

halfeldian

Honey are you okay? You look like you need 3 more boxes of Kleenex 🤣🤣

Charles Baldwin

I'm glad you enjoyed watching this, its one of my favorites and I get what you mean about hype. I really hope we get more, we've seen basically the prologue of 86 and it's a wild ride from here, at the risk of hyping it up.

Kakurenbo

Best Ending in anime. If they continue it with a new season, they can easily top this episode. That's how good it is.

Ecodude

Btw the final song LilaS: "Lena is Looking at Shin". Just Hiroyuki Sawano being Hiroyuki Sawano.

Julian R

I can never stop crying when watching this ending, its so freaking good! This will remain my number 1 anime no matter what and I will continue to hold out hope for season 2!

jacksan1

The bad omen for another season is that the disc sales have been dismal for 86. For the Japanese market, the per-volume average sale did not reach 2,000, and 5,000 per is generally considered the minimum requirement for an additional season. As a reference, Lycoris Recoil, which has not yet officially announced a full-length new season, has sold an average of 24,000 discs per volume. My Dress-up Darling, with the second season coming up, sold 10k-ish . At the same time, Kadokawa's strong backing of the light novel is present, so who knows given their deep coffer? I don't know what the ticket sales are like for the upcoming "Reading Stage 86," and this event may actually be a feeler for the anime producers (as well as being a part of the Dengenki Bunko's 30th anniversary celebration).

jacksan1

I will be watching the live streaming of this event, so I will post something here if I hear anything hopeful about another season.

halfeldian

Thank you for the hard work with these reactions, Alana! I'm quite picky when it comes to recommendations, so seeing you go 2/2 with Kaguya-sama, I couldn't be anymore happier. For me this show ticks all the boxes that everyone def has to experience, with the top 3 being cinematography, artistic vision and the last 2 episodes. So I'm glad that you finally experienced this beautiful show! Also outside of our amazing MCs, it does feel like your third favorite character in this show is Daiya (or Daiya-Anju dynamic) cus everytime he's in flashbacks 21:24, you always cry 😂 Felt

Calo Lee Candame

This has to be one of the best season finales ever made in anime, I get emotional with that ending scene every time. The fact that the director for 86 only had done works in individual episodes before directing this show is mind blowing, I love the light novels but the anime adaptation even improved the original work. I don't know if we'll get more seasons, but just 4 more volumes would be amazing...

Sam

IMAAAAAAA!!!!! Great reaction to this masterpiece! Now the waiting starts...

halfeldian

these 86 episodes this week, Wotakoi and Vinland ... we eating GOOD

The Smiling Titan

The adapted volumes are relatively weaker compared to the greatness in the succeeding volumes. This was just the prequel. Hope 86 gets adapted completely!

2024-01-22 03:44:09 Now to start the Light Novels xD Hey Alana, there's a youtuber called "ctrlaltQQ" who created a 3 part series of details that one might have missed and the symbolism of 86. I highly recommend you watch those. Might be a good reaction material too :)

Alana, I must have watched that final sequence more than a 100 times at this point. If you go back and watch it again, there are SO MANY amazing details with the quick cuts (I would pause at each one, honestly worth the effort) and the symbolism. AAAAAAND not sure if you've noticed or anyone's mentioned this already, but focus on their hands when Shin and Lena are about to hold hands and then focus on the final title card. Geez this show is incredible

M Khan

That's nuts to hear. I hope A-1 makes 86 their new SAO. Imagine this show with War of Underworld animation!!!

M Khan

honestly I'm just tempted to wait out the anime. The production values for show is insane and worth waiting for

The Smiling Titan

It's crazy how Alana cried more watching 86 than she did watching YLIA.

teacup_ninja

This has to be one of my favorite endings to anime of all time, the series totally surprised me. I'm happy I got to re-watch and share this journey with you Alana :')

An Q.

I love your reaction so much! Thanks for watching this show! There hasn’t been any news about a new season, so if you are impatient for season 2, just go ahead and read the novel, it’s so freaking good. These 23 episodes only adapted the first 3 volumes of the novel, and the latest volume in Japanese is volume 12. I pray for a season 2 because I need to see my favorite arc and couple in animated form 😭

M Khan

It comes down to what she said in the video about dropping Dangers of my Heart. She could relate to the pain in 86 more, and as much as I love Kaori, I have to say 86 impacted me a bit more too

jacksan1

Vol. 13 in Japanese is scheduled to be released on January 10, 2024.

Dennis

So glad we're got to follow you on this journey. I personally have yet to find an anime that triumphs 86 and I don't expect to see one soon... I most of all love how much yo enjoyed it! Makes all the effort lobbying it for the last year worth it! Thank you for picking it up! And thank you to all of you who voted for it!

Tinkerlin

Jerome is uhhh... very dead ^^" those were his boots on the desk, he did what he said he would though... went down buying Lena all the time he could. Other casualties include the maintenance uncle, and Lena's mom. Dunno if you noticed but the dudes complaining about unfair treatment were the drunk 3 stooges of officers who were always insulting Lena. (Even when it's happy the show still has its darkness... of all people why did they deserve to live...)

jacksan1

I did listen to the "District 85.5 Information Bureau" (internet radio program for 86) special on July 30, and Mr. Chiba and Ms. Hasegawa, who were giddy as heck and didn't sound one bit like Shin and Lena, said nothing about the anime's future. But then again, there might have been a pre-event gag order. Let's all hope that something positive about the anime will be revealed on 10/1 or shortly thereafter.

Gabriel Barott

Idk if it's been mentioned already or if you already caught it, but did you notice that Lena and Shin's hands reaching for each other forms the shape of the number 86? ;)

Luis Arispe

Random coment. I declare my eternal love to Ikumi Hasegawa... I hope my wife doesn't find out. HE HE

Frostbite

Ever since i first watched it i have firmly believed the ending of 86 season 1 feels like the most cathartic and rewardings to a season of anything i've ever watched in my life. Can't wait to see your reaction when i get off work

jacksan1

She's sweet, isn't she? And very funny too. She loves to diss Mr. Chiba as if he was an underclassman boy in high school.

Ki

Thanks again for the 86 reactions, this is my favorite show so watching it over again was awesome

Rubi_pica

The fake out ending got me to lol but definitely one if my favorite endings ever happy you enjoy the series!

Luis Arispe

Love watching her in Bocchi the radio. Sweet, funny, beautiful and sing like a goddess. "Butt first Ikumi" like the rest of the girls called her because of the way of she seats...HA HA HA.

Eric The Viewer

My favorite thing about the episode isnt the cathartic reunion. Its the fact that literally everyone friendly to Lena, beside Anette, knew what was going on and kept it back to let everything hit her all at once. I cant imagine how that would feel, to be able to confirm that your comrades are safe, but to meet them face-to-face for the first time, and learn that they will be working together. Thats 3 giant happy emotional busses smashing into her at once. Meanwhile, the Spearhead members can barely keep it together long enough to let Shin reintroduce himself.

s l a s h

I hate that my favorite show of all time came to an end, but I have hope that A1 will one day release season 2.

asianbomb1210

Another thing to note: if you look at the dates carefully on the day that the 86 folks returned home, it was Dec. 24, 2049. The date that they met on Fido's camera shows March 20, 2050. You calculate that time period from their return to the meeting, it equals 86 days. That small detail was pretty clever on making everything line up with 86.

jacksan1

In that July "85.5" show I mentioned, Sayumi Suzushiro showed up as a guest (Natsumi Fujimi was the other guest). I don't know about you, but I would really struggle if Ikumi and Sayumi together came up to me and said "Choose one of us." My wife need not know anything about this fantasy situation.

Jordan Landry

The catharsis of that ending…amazing

Jacob Christoffersson

I cried so much the first time I watched this and now I have a headache because I have been binging all your reactions to this in one night and I have cried on and off throughout most of it again. It was so nice watching it again with you though, thank you.

jacksan1

You may die regardless of the choice (by the hand of our spouse). And the funeral director would have a tough time removing the big smile on your face.

Calo Lee Candame

And the chapter aired on March 19-20 depending of your timezone so that lined up really nice.

Jake Thompson

The first thing we see Eugene do is teach his sister that when someone does something nice for you, you say "thank you." It hits a whole lot harder at the gravestone when you see how genuinely happy she is about the picture.

Trevot

This is an amazing show with so much hidden symbolism, and analogy’s that I’d highly recommend watching a video about it. Like there was an active website that updated weekly with the show put on by the production company.

Joshua10red

Also the final ep aired exactly 86 days after they announced the delay

Frank Hon

Wanted to see this reaction so much! I am so glad you enjoyed it.

aeriss eon

I enjoyed it. Nice one! ^^

TsukiAmeEN

I loved how the shadow of Shin and Lena about to hold hands makes an "86"

Jay

since im late asf to this (had to re-up on my sub), all I’ve got to say is thank you. one of the absolute best reactors getting to see my absolute favorite endings to my favorite show of all-time. bless your little heart for getting through this. and thank you for enjoying this with me again.

Griddy

Im glad you liked this masterpiece!

jacksan1

Well, it does not appear now that they will have an English ticket site for this coming weekend's "Reading Stage 86." Anyway, I will be watching the show on live streaming Saturday night-Sunday morning US Central Time. I hope to get some news then about the 86 anime's future.

jacksan1

Just finished the livestreaming of the "Readpia Reading Stage 86" (First Stage). Incredible performance by the six voice actors. The storyline for this stage reading was exactly what was in the anime, except for the very beginning and final few minutes (a lighthearted "egg" scene not in the anime). Now, the part that we have been waiting for, which is the news about the anime's future. Was there news??? NONE. Not a word about the future of 86 the anime. The after-the-stage-reading talk show was pretty much all the voice actors' reminiscing about the anime and their being happy about being able to perform in this form today. Natsumi Fujiwara (CV: Theo) even said: "I just wish I could perform in '86' again with this group," which sounded very much as if there is no existing plan to do that. Shoya Chiba (CV: Shin) said in the final remark that he is sad to end this (likely implying performing for '86' even though there is actually one more show of this today), and the other five VAs immediately jumped in and concurred by saying "Yes, sad."

jacksan1

I said something similar in a different thread, but I should mention this here too. I have just finished watching the live streaming of the "Readpia Reading Stage 86" together with the after-the-show talk segment. There was NO WORD on the future of the 86 anime. The voice actors' closing remarks in fact rather clearly indicated that there is no existing plan to go further with the anime production. At least not at the present moment. Shoya Chiba (CV: Shin) did say that the show's staff have been receiving a great volume of feedback from the anime 86's fans, and he encouraged the fans to "keep cheering for 86." But his words and demeanor and those of the other five voice actors were strongly hinting that there is currently no substantive plan to go further with the anime in the near future.

jacksan1

Not a word was said about the future of the 86 anime in the "Readpia Reading Stage 86" whose livestreaming I have just finished watching. In fact, hints were everywhere from the voice actors that there is no existing plan to continue with the 86 anime. Never say never, things can change, but at least the voice actors did not have anything substantive (in fact, nothing at all) to say about 86's anime future.

Luis Arispe

Aaarrrrggghhhhh. (Sound of me dying on the spot). Thxs for the info. The only things that gets me hope is that they continue to make this events. All is not lost.

jacksan1

No, let's not say it is over. There have been anime shows that have suddenly come back to life after a hiatus. By the way, I did check on Twitter after the second show of the day to see whether anything different was said. Fans' who just came out of that show were tweeting "we want more anime" which means nothing promising about that was mentioned. If you run a Twitter search using #エイティシックス as the hashtag, you will be able to see a variety of images from the stage reading event, including those posted by the VAs. There will be a Nico-Nico video special, "District 85.5 Live - Special Battle", at 10 pm (JST)/8 am (CDT) on Tuesday, October 3. This show will look back at the stage reading event and God knows what else. The first half is free to everyone. Five of the six VAs from the stage reading event will be there (Saori Hayami CV: Anju will be absent). Here is the show's link: https://live.nicovideo.jp/watch/lv342948905

And I have just watched the Nico-Nico 86 livestreaming special with five of the VAs from the stage reading, holding out the faint hope for a good announcement. Sorry - NO NEWS for the anime's future again. They have a corner on this Nico-Nico program called "Theo's Cry" in which Natsumi Fujiwara does Theo's famous angry outburst (Natsumi says she still uses it for voice training) using the scripts from the viewers. Theo cried out on this show today: "Why the hell is there no announcement for more of the anime?! I'm dying for more now that you showed us the stage reading!" among others, representing the fans throughout the world. Shoya Chiba (CV: Shin) acknowledged in closing the ever-expanding worldwide fanbase for 86, that the fans' voices in and outside of Japan are not lost on the cast and staff, and asked the fans to continue supporting 86.

She’s not watching dangers in my heart anymore? Where is that video? :o

Healthy Truth

I would like to thank you for watching 86, I only got the chance to find this gem thanks to your reactions. This anime is by far unmatched imo, the symbolism and inferring required from the audience is second to none. I suggest to watch or even react to all 3 parts explained by Youtuber ctrlaltQQ. These will blow your mind and intensify your connection to the characters even more so. Once youve seen them youll understand and love 86 that much more. My favourite characters are definetely Theo, Ernst and Raiden also the sympathy for Anju is immense. Shin and Lena are by far the greatest anime couple, the true Romeo and Juliet lol. Lastly, my favourite section of this episode was with the squad giggling while saluting Lena. If you pay attention to Theo, hes saluting with 100% respect as Lena is the 2nd Alba that Theo disregards as pigs. This hits so deep as I believe he see's her more greater than the Fox commander, as she survived and the commander died. Thanks for reacting again and Im hopeful more anime will be released in the future. 86 the OG

Healthy Truth

Also another thing about Theos respect to her, is how she is so frail and smail. A young sweet girl, commanding the frontlines and upholding the true meaning of the San Magnolia flag. Wow, he cant believe it. He salutes with his whole heart man. The kind and innocent artist who had to become strong to survive, I love that guy. When he threw his art book in the fire and believed his demise was coming, emotional damage. Love and respect to all of us rocking with the 86, all the way from New Zealannd baby!

Glxrp

As I was watching this I remembered the stairs from the novel and was reminded that it is 86
