All hail the Bloody Queen. Fun note: Lena's new attire resembles the Republic Flag in the colors. Quite a statement. About the new OP. I think is only one thing that is a spoiler until episode 13, but is a big one. In my opinion it was the best opening of 2021. Figth me!!!!. HA HA

Aww man, I wanted to see your reaction to the new op since I like it so much. Will you react to it next ep?

Charles Baldwin

This feels like the first I've seen a rector who didn't instantly have a negative reaction to Ernst. Also I know there's a lot going on in this episode, but I'm sad Theresa telling Fredericka nothing happened that wasn't your fault always gets left out.

86 greatness!

I told you that you would love this show xD Things that weren't 100% clear in how they did this episode since they showed it in a more artistic and symbolic way: The reason they all survived was because of Shin's brother. The Legion was trying to create a "backup" feature for their Shepperds and Black Sheep since smarter legion had high value within their forces. But the method wasn't fully developed yet. So when the backup for Shourei was created, it had some corrupted data with it and it wouldn't last long. This corrupted data allowed for his Personality to take over the Legion directives. In the LN Shin felt all through their way that a legion was following them from far away. When they stopped it would stop and when they advanced it would advance, thanks to the distance and the data corruption he couldn't recognize it as his brother. When the last battle happened, it was Shourei that intercepted them and protected them from the legion. Ernst and the others walking with him talked about how they found them all on top of a Dinosauria. The Federacy shot down Shourei but even if they didn't Shourei would have "died" in a short time because of this data corruption. Shourei was the one who picked them up and brough them to the Federacy of Giad to save them. And that's why he had the "armor" picking up Shin and bringing him along the way in his vision. At the end of the vision it showed the same Dinosauria, all damaged that Ernst was looking from above. The last bit of the vision was the Nametag of Rei hanging upon Shin. He didn't had that tag in the box, he always had it on his front pocket near his heart. The things with Frederica will clear in the future. Also, the new OP is a banger but yeah, let's leave the OP for the final episode xD On a note, The Empire of Giad was the one that created the Legion, however people didn't liked their decision of going to a whole world war. So they revolted, they brought down the Empire (Monarchy) and they built a Federacy (Democracy). However the Legion was built by the Empire and they took orders from the Monarchy. So they recognized the Federacy as their enemy as well. Since their last order was to kill all humans who didn't formed part of the Empire and the Empire is gone the Legion now keeps fighting to fullfill that order. Because of the Einstagfliege (Mechanical Butterflies of the Legion) blocked all types of communication and the Republic of San Magnolia built it's walls and kept to themselves they didn't had any contact to other nations. There was also the thing that Lena's Uncle said that they didn't wanted other nations to find out about what they were doing to the 86 (Coloratta) which were a bunch of decendants from the other nations, so they weren't exactly motivated to contact the other countries until they got rid of all the 86 and no proof was left of their crimes. A bit of extra Trivia, thanks to Japanese double meaning, Lena's moniker could be translated to "Bloody Reina" (Bloody Queen), which is what they used to in the LN. In the anime they used the other one "Bloody Regina", she used a black uniform in contrast to the others wearing blue. The red streak was both a protest against the "White of the Alba" and as well to honor the Blood of the Spearhead Squadron. Cyclops Squadron was named the Brisingamen Squadron also known as "The Queen's Knights" which is why Shiden calls Lena "Her Majesty" in a kind of a mix of joke / respect / but also a bit of looking down on her because she's an Alba. And Teppy or T.P. was named like that for the Thermopylae Battle of the 300 spartans against the thousands of Persians to reference the 5 against the Legion.

Ara Araragi

Ernst explained that they overthrew the Giad Empire (who created the Legion) and made a new Federacy of Giad. The Legion still serve the "Empire," so they would also want to protect its princess.

2023-08-18 19:27:17 When they say “telepathy ability that a certain family is capable of”, that’s Shin’s maternal side family (the Maika clan). This is not a spoiler, just something that isn’t explained in the anime. In the novel, Shin’s mother and her bloodline has telepathy ability, they can communicate with each other without speaking. When the mother died on the battlefield, the brothers’ connection with their mom got cut off. Shin asked his brother where their mom was because he could no longer hear her voice. His brother was so shocked that both of their parents had died, plus the fact that he then knew his fate was going to be the same. He snapped and blamed it on Shin and almost choked him to death with a chain. On the verge of death, Shin’s telepathy ability was changed to “hearing voices of the death”. The Para-raid the device that the Republic created was based on this ability. Annette talked about this in ep 8. Unlike a normal radio communication device which can be jammed easily on the battlefield, it connects the senses of the users. When Shin hears the voices of the dead, whoever is connected with him on the Para-raid can also hear those voices. Since saw tweet your tweet saying you’d watched up to ep 15. I’ll also explain the Nouzen family and their ability. So the Nouzen clan is Shin’s paternal side family. They are the bloodline that has superior combat abilities (reason why Shin is so good on the battlefield), the men from that family were bodyguards of the former Giad Empire’s noble family (Frederica’s family). So if Shin and his brother had been born in Giad, they would’ve had grown up becoming bodyguards for the Rosenfort family just like Kiri.

The relief on your face when you realized they were alive was absolutely precious! Best reaction moment some far. Note a few things about Lena that are explained in the light novel, but not in the anime: she has dyed her uniform black to show that she is in mourning of all the 86 that have died and she dyed part of her hair red to symbolize the spilled blood of the 86. She has made herself a constant reminder of the tragedy of the 86 to everyone around her. This is why they call her the Bloody Queen, or the Bloodied Queen (the red stain in her hair). The queen part comes from her now being a total boss, but it is also a play on her name: in Japanese they don't have L instead they use R (which I am sure you already know), so her name would be Rena, which is similar to the Japanese name Reina, which is also the exact spelling in Spanish for queen. It was then quickly caught on to use the Latin word for queen, Regina, since it is also a common name! Thus she has many nicknames: the Bloodied/Bloody Queen, Bloody Regina or Bloody Reina. In Lena's mind, bloodied also has a second meaning: after the loss of Shin and the rest of the spearhead squadron, she refused to ever get as close to any squadron again. Rather she decided to honor the ways of eighty-six and instead of trying to protect them or save them, she tried her best to help them in their purpose, to fight the legion. Basically she sends the members of her squadron in aggressive attacks, leading to high casualties, but also massive destruction of legions, thus her high kill ratio as mentioned in this episode. She uses the 86 to inflict maximum damage of the legion even if it means higher losses, she never hold the 86 back. However, in recognition of those died at her command, she dyed her hair red to symbolize that their blood is on her and have stained her. She know she sent them to their deaths, but she won't forget them, she carries their blood on her every day as a reminder of them.

yeah I was about to type, the relief on her face doesn't do justice when she described it over on discord vs this actual reaction, idk how to explain but it's probably because the level of attachment to Shin's character is something I did not expect that grew episode per episode, all before those were uploaded Reigen's best girl status in Alana's tier list is in danger I fear

halfeldian

ooh niceu! I plan to be an anime-only since the adaptation seemingly gets its huge share of love from the animators, and I refuse to search too much to avoid spoilers (although i've seen too much from fanarts), so this adds more layer in understanding why he can hear the voices of the dead and his family background.

Alana Misako

i already watched up til ep 15 without watching the op, but i heard i should be okay watching it after seeing ep13 and 14 so ill probs watch it once i sit down for episode 16!

Alana Misako

Yeah! just hype for op2. Why people still keep this op to last episode since it has many OST to impress in this anime XD. Its fine after episode around 13-14. I want to listen again together with your reaction. Love your reaction video. <3

I started reading what you are saying but then stopped because of spoilers. Like why can't people let others be and let them enjoy whats coming? I was already thinking their family does have powers and I want the anime/LN to tell me what's going on and figure out the mystery behind it. I really want a second season but at this rate I may have to read the book. Tbh they probably might explain these powers in the anime later on so I still consider it spoilers.

Eric The Viewer

It is explained in earlier episodes, whenthe paraRAID developement is explained, specifically when Lena makes the connection that Shin was Henrieta's neighbor. They just dont spell it out. This show requires the viewer to pay full attention, especially to the smaller background details.
