The next time I watch this series, I'm going to keep a tally of how many times Iroha rejects Hachiman.

Technically it's zero, since Iroha herself is the one manufacturing the "confessions" themselves, usually with pretty dubious reasoning. But I know what you mean.

I love that soundtrack in the hallway scene with hachiman and yukinon. It's really sad when you digest what was happening here. Yukino was viewing this moment as a final goodbye between them, but Hachiman doesn't accept it. He brushes her off and keeps saying 'see ya' as in 'ill see you later'. He doesn't want it to end so he refuses to acknowledge her trying to end it. His gentle peeling of her fingers off him breaks my heart tbh.

The other thing with "You can't get drunk" is also that she reflects herself on Hachiman. As Haruno sees it; her and Hachiman are always skeptical about everything they see and feel, always trying to find a true meaning between lines, always trying to see the true faces behind the masks of the others, always asking themselves, always being unsatisfied with everything; and by that not letting themselves get drunk in their emotions, relationships and purposes. That's why in S2 she said that Hahciman was a monster of self-awareness, that's why she said: "Are you that boring?" in the chocolate event. That's why she says that she knew that Hachiman was escaping/running again, because at her eyes he wasn't convinced of what happened and was going to put an excuse or a "logical reason" for all the feelings that he had in his relationship with Yui and Yukino after putting an end to it there. I agree that she wants to help her sister grow and mature, but I also think that she wants to help Yukino see the world as she sees it. I think that's also the reason of why she was always pushing Hachiman to spend time with Yukino; because maybe she thought that someone like Hachiman that in her eyes also cannot "get drunk" was going to be able to help her sister realize that she needs to take out her mask and not try to hide herself in fake relationships and emotions that would make her more dependent. It's curious beacuse she asked Hachiman if something genuine truly exists. Maybe Haruno wants to find her "genuine" by watching Yui, Yukino and Hachiman trying to find it, but at the same time she doesn't believe in something like that; that's why she uses a word such as codependency, as a way to give sense to what she sees in them, that's why she laughed at the idea of a love triangle, because she was not convinced by their actions, because by being raised as her parents wanted her to be, she never was blinded by fake stuff. She may hate what she turned into, but at the same time she uses that to have a position of power, because if her true self was lost maybe this fake herself has to be proud of herself; because if not... what else she has left? It's complicated, because I think that she sees the love that Hachiman has for Yukino, and viceversa (Of course also the friendship with Yui and her "love" for Hachiman), but I think that she sees that as something ephimeral that has not true meaning; she wants them to be genuine. And maybe she doesn't want see Hachiman unable to "get drunk" because she says to him in a way that he needs to fix that, but if she doesn't belive in something like the "genuine" herself; is hard to be convinced.
