Iroha suggestion was definitely aiming at both having Hachiman around *and* keeping the trio together. The thing about Iroha is that when she was introduced she was a pretty fake person who'd hide behind a mask in her relationships. But her interactions with Hachiman, especially her overhearing Hachiman's request for something "genuine", changed her, and made her crave something genuine too. Which meant that now she's unsatisfied with most of her previous relationships with other people, and that the 3 people in the service club may even be her 3 best friends now (it's certainly not Hayama, or Tobe, or Miura...) Which is also why Iroha is so miffed with Hachiman "not taking responsibility". He changed her in such a way that now other guys seem fake compared to him, but he doesn't even take her incessant flirting seriously for one second. Though, the irony, of course, is that Hachiman only ever changed Iroha because of how strong his feelings for Yukino are.

Also, on the topic of how the Hachiman-Yukino relationship can't be described with just the one word "codependence", it also can't be described with just the one word "love". There's just far too many other strong emotions going on between them to be summarized as just "love". When you read the novels, and you see how Hachiman's inner monologues are constantly, time and again, contrasting his ideals with her ideals, and his methods with her methods, it's clear that even if you removed all romantic feelings between them, you'd still have a platonic attraction that's stronger than 95% of romantic attractions out there. In a different universe, maybe Yui or Iroha could have had viable romantic relationships with Hachiman (particularly Iroha). But I genuinely don't think those relationships would ever hold a candle to even the platonic component of the Hachiman-Yukino relationship.

The the three orbit each other in some strange but beautiful waltz. We've seen them all grow in such nuanced ways, the gravitational pull, back and forth.

Haruno is a very great character, I really love her as a flawed mentor. After Hachiman she is probably my favourite executed story role. Everything about her involvement is just about the correct dosage. Very enjoyable. Btw aren't I kinda mugging you for your emotions as well when I watch your reactions?
