I rewatch Violet Evergarden every year or two just spend an entire day crying and emotionally drained! It's so good and really deserves more attention than it's gotten!

I remember watching this movie while on a road trip with my friends. I was in the backseat, trying my hardest not to be seen crying as I watch Taylor and Amy being separated. That was probably the saddest scene in the series for me. Anyways thanks for watching the show, and can’t wait to see what show you pick next

This movie can really be slotted anywhere in the series, except of course in the end. And it's a nice story that you can watch and enjoy even after The Movie. It is identified as a side story (外伝 gaiden) in the Japanese title for both this movie and the original light novel, from which some parts (but not all) were taken and put into this film.

So birds are often used to represent freedom, with Amy/Isabella feeling trapped by circumstance and envying Violet being able to go anywhere. The postal service that Anne's granddaughter visits is very far in the future (probably close to 60 years if I remember right), since the "final" movie has Benedict's new bike and took place not too long after this movie took place so Taylor is still little.
