Oh it's coming, we love eating up those Alana tears

I love the ending to this episode, it feels like it could've been a season finale in many ways but there is still a lot more story to tell of course.

Oh my gosh you jumped right into the next episode after this?! I have rewatched episode 10 so many times and I still can’t make it through without going teary eyed, I can’t wait to see your reaction ;-;

I Watched each episode within a month to relieve myself. Lmao also, one of the themes of violet evergarden was to show the mental struggles of a combat veteran. This episode in itself really shows the mental struggle with PTSD with vets. (im not a vet but a few reactors who are vets really resonated with the anime)

Burns. It’s a trauma to the skin which is a larges organ of the body. Severe burn also known as 3rd degree burn are the most severe and have permanent impact. The onset of a 3rd degree burn is so severe that your pain receptors are burnt away and this in an ironic way reducing the pain you feel. But as you start to heal from those burns your pain nerves reform and your perception of the most traumatising pain begins. The symbolism of burn is too good in the show. From Violet getting the ‘burns’ during the war to her finding healing through writing letters and to her finding out about major Gilbert and acknowledging her feeling she’s ‘burning’ from the pain she wasn’t able to recognise before, the pain being so unbearable that she’d rather …. Her life then bare that pain. But once you manage you burn you are left with scars… these scars don’t fade and are a constant reminder of you painful past… like Claudias says you cannot erase your past and relates them to scars again. But the thing about scars and burn victims is there is ways to heal mentally and learn to accept those scars… now let’s see what violet does for this.

This is one of my favorite episodes of the series. I'm guessing that Hodgins' tears when Violet came into his office are due at least in part to his own wartime regrets - war makes good people do horrible things. Aira Yuuki's ”Believe in..." playing in the background makes the final frames even more touching: "Your mistakes won't disappear, even if the seasons come and go around; the wounds you carry will sometimes ache; But don't forget to step forward to tomorrow; Have the courage to believe in the light of gentleness; The warmth doesn't disappear, either, living together with the memories; Countless love will save your heart; So don't forget to step forward to tomorrow; In the courage that embraces everything...Believe!"
