The horror movie that Ryo was watching during summer break is from ep. 12 of My Dress-Up Darling

Eternity ago, when I was a little kid my parents decided to reward me for whatever the reason by giving me a ride on the Escar-lators. And I remember I got so disappointed that it was just darn escalators (granted that the Escar ticket office never promised anything else)! The bitterness of my childhood memories is such that I've been to Enoshima perhaps 30 times after that and never once bothered with them pay moving staircase.

You mentioned the pretty scenery from the train. It must be very nice in real life as both this anime and Bunny Girl Senpai specifically call out the view from this train as being amazing.

It's a fake movie called On-Den: One Malicious Call, but the ending scene is an homage to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

the sound of Ryo's brain rattling in her skull was indeed used for one of the songs, about 55 seconds in on ED2 (fittingly, ryo's ED!)

I remember someone posted in the comments of the My Dress Up Darling beach episode that Marin and Gojo were at Enoshima since it is also featured prominently in Bunny Girl Senpai. Rewatching this, I noticed the same things happening here as in the other shows. Marin also had her food stolen by a bird, and Sakuta and Koga climbed all those stairs too to get to the shrine.

We don't have enough fingers and toes to count all the anime and live action shows that have over the years used the Enoshima-Kamakura Hwy 134 background. There is the Slam Dunk railroad crossing nearby too (Kamakura High School station). Even Your Lie in April used this area (anime; most of the live action movie ver. took place there) , even though the story is set in Nerima, Tokyo (when Tsubaki and Kousei walk on the beach by Inamuragasaki). Btw, those peregrine falcons are really like silent Stuka dive bombers and DO steal food from unsuspecting people.

I found out that at 10:14 is a reference to dragon ball z lol

I fucking died at that part, I was like what the fuck a Yamcha meme in Bocchi, I'm fucking dead.

I was never as bad as Bocchi but I was definitely about 75% Bocchi when I was in middle/high school. I started playing DDR and eventually found a group to start going to anime conventions and this was literally what it was like, always having been sitting at home playing games and all of a sudden people were texting me asking me to hang out. I remember my first anime convention I came home and cried afterwards because I had so much fun hanging with friends all weekend and finally being social for once. This anime definitely has some great vibes, loving it!
