i am VERY happy i watched this OVA! its nice seeing more emilia puck and learning more about their backstory :)

season 2 starts on friday!

Sad that we won't get the Memory snow OVA reaction but this one definitely more important so I can't wait for Friday!

I’ll never understand why people tell anyone watching ReZero for the first time, to skip Memory Snow. Frozen Bond takes place right AFTER Memory Snow, and Memory Snow explains the timing of when Frozen Bond takes place. Memory Snow expands the magic system, explains how Roswaal found Emilia, and gives foreshadowing for Season 2. Without Memory Snow, you don’t really pick up on why Emilia thinking back to her time in the forest is so impactful. The sculptures that were built out of fun and celebration vs. The ones she was around in the forest. The boisterous and whimsical nature of Memory Snow contrasts with how silent and serious Frozen Bond is. Memory Snow shows a big part of WHY Emilia likes Subaru. He gets all these people together to have fun and make memories with her something that Emilia never had the chance to do. The actual plot isn’t super important when compared to a normal episode. But hell, half the episodes are rewritten when Subaru restarts anyways. At least in Memory Snow’s case it is completely cannon and is actually referenced by a few characters later on. It doesn’t really matter if it is “reacted” to, but it should never be suggested to skip it entirely. It’s like suggesting to skip Gojo’s backstory in JJK because the only thing relevant to come out of it is knowing that Gojo got stronger and that Toji exists. It is otherwise completely irrelevant to the main plot of JJK. Rant over.

yeah this story is really great. Adds so much context to her feelings toward Subaru in Season 1. Everyone she has met just hates her so much right away, then she meets this person who is head over heels for her instantly because he has no context of the racism in this world. i bet that's a wild feeling.

Just some context information: The sculptures were from the previous OVA, they were basically a part 1 & 2 but this part is the one that is important for season 2. The last OVA we had the Emilia and Subaru's date that they promised to go on in the earlier episodes. We also learned about the fact that Emilia dosent get cold like everyone else so thats why she was fine with living in the frozen Forest and with Pucks magical release period [What made all of the snow for the sculptures in the first place].

I actually never saw this I directly went from Season 1 to Season 2 when I first saw Re-Zero . I am glad that I saw it now with you it was great!

Oh man, I'm so disappointed you will probably just skip over Memory Snow. I only found out about the ReZero reactions this weeks and I've been binging it, was looking forward for Memory Snow, since it is one of my favorites episodes. I can't understand why people would say its not important, seriously. Stabilishing character relationships and the group's dynamic is one of the most important things. And Memory Snow does it masterfully. Not only that, but it also expands on the magic system, it expands on Emilia's past, it foreshadows A LOOOOOOOT of stuff, and is, overall, a GREAT time. To be completely honest, I think Memory Snow should be watched after the Mansion Arc, where it is actually placed. It is a DIRECT CONTINUATION of the Mansion Arc, its about the DATE Subaru wanted to have with Emilia, after all!! Like, seriously, we spent like 7 episodes in the Mansion with Subaru trying to get the Date, and when he finally does, people tell you to just skip it and come back later?!? How does it make any sense?! I'm sorry for the rant, I just cannot understand skipping it... I hope you will watch it on your own, but, please, do not skip it, it is one of the most enjoyable ReZero's episodes out there, just because it is an OVA, doesn't mean it is not important.

Memory Snow is best watched after the 2nd arc finishes imo, it adds SO much character into the cast and lets them shine in a non-life or death situation. Really adds a lot to the Rem scene cos' you get to see her acting smitten with Subaru before the big confession. It's some much needed downtime in a show with insane pacing. It also LITERALLY leads directly into Frozen Bond.
