Writing mysteries is so hard. You have to write it and then make it solvable in a way that makes sense. So in order to do that they had to know which metals melted at a low temperature, which metals were available (in their world to make sense), then how to concoct this scenario to make it all happen. Not only that but the mysteries get BETTER as the story goes, are you kidding me?
