Release 1.11.0 – Image uploads beta (Patreon)

Thanks the continued support of you amazing people it’s finally here after all those years – image uploads! It’s a feature that we, and many of you, have wanted for a long time but due to the impact such a feature has performance and storage it has always been out of reach due to costs that come with it.

With last year’s upgrade our server is finally stable enough to handle such a feature, and the increased storage should last us a while. We’ve also been able to implement a CDN to ensure we’re not serving everyone incredibly large images on mobile.

So, we wanted to express our heartfelt thanks once more. None of this would have been possible without you guys! We’re also still seeing new faces appear regularly, which makes us confident that we’ll continue to grow in supporters in the future to keep up with the increasing costs! You guys are the best <3

Now, onto the feature! It's available in beta for all Backlog Legends and Myths starting now!

Add images to posts and comments

Clicking the images button will open up a file select window. Here you can select one or more images you wish to attach to your post. Posts have a limit of 6 images while comments can only have a single image. While we do optimize uploaded images on our side, there are some file size limits to prevent filling up our storage too quickly or giving the server too much of a hard time while it's processing. Try uploading images one-by-one if it's giving you trouble.

Adding images to your post will look like this, with the ability to click on each image to view them in the image gallery:

Add images to reviews

To add images to your reviews you use the image icon in the editor. This file upload only accepts a single image each time, and inserts it into the editor at the spot your cursor was when you clicked the button. Images will be shown at full width to ensure all works well on mobile. Reviews have the same limit as posts, with a maximum of 6 images.

Change your avatar

Outside of adding images to your content, image uploads will now also finally let you upload your own avatar!

Then a bit of a obligatory PSA: we've had to update our Terms of Use and Community Guidelines in accordance with this new type of content and the law. Most of it is straightforward and an extension of the rules we already had in place which basically ask you to behave like a proper person and not do anything illegal, but please give it a once-over so we're all on the same page!

This feature will be in beta for a bit while we monitor performance and figure out the best way to roll this out to the entire community. We've tested it extensively, but with the complexity of this feature there may be some things we missed.
