Holy Shiite! TGIF 🍿🍿 EDIT: Hmm…couldn’t get a read on their reaction (maybe plenty was left on the YT editing floor). I think this is a VERY good film; Sorkin/Fincher! Then again, I’m a fan of Sorkin’s writing…though, admittedly, I understand it’s exhausting for some. One of the things I thought was brilliant; was the ominous tone at Harvard. It’s dark, moody…sinister. The idea that, something (someone?) wicked was being hatched. IDK…I guess I have to face up to (no pun intended) the fact that maybe a movie about how Facebook came to be, was more culturally significant to my generation (X and proud), than to “current” ones. I was never that hooked (now…a movie about HOURS of busy dial-ups, and THOUSAND dollar AOL bills 🤔), but as I never Twit-ed nor Tok-ed; FB was the beginning and end of social media for me.

I technically still have a Facebook account, but I haven't USED it since the time when only college students were allowed to make accounts. My biggest takeaway from this film has always been that one line: "[Y]ou're going to go through life thinking that girls don't like you because you're a nerd. And I want you to know, from the bottom of my heart, that that won't be true. It'll be because you're an asshole." Speaking as A Nerd, I see this so often. Just the BIGGEST assholes who are 100% convinced to the very bottom of their heart that the problem is because they're a nerd, and not because of the asshole part. And seeing it encapsulated in this one phrase was perfect. Instead of needing to give a big lecture, I can just repeat this. The rest of the film I can take-or-leave -- it's certainly not a bad movie but I never cared about the "origin" of Facebook -- but they earned a + for that alone.

Dustin Duvall

Well said, and there's a big overlap between that guy and the guy who complains about women not going for the "nice" guy.
