4 hours of ted lasso 😁

JakeyShakeyBakeyBoy

All work and no play makes Breaking Bad begin next week

djKENTO

I believe.

JoshG

I recommend you guys watch the next two karate kid movies so we can start Cobra Kai!

djKENTO

Y’all haven’t seen Willy Wonka? I have your 4/20 movie planned!!! Both of you get some good green delivered and a bunch of candy and snacks and react to Willy Wonka and Wonka double feature react!!! Please!!!

Pam Nail

Awww, if you'd watched ep. 10 a week or two later you would have gotten the Madeline Kahn "I ain't got no Clue" reference. :-)

Jeff K

Was just coming to the comments to say the same thing. By this point, they no doubt get that reference. Ha!

Guillermo Antonio Ricci Alvarez

But when is Breaking Bad coming back?...yes, I keep doing this joke every time xD also in case you didn't see it..Hazbin Hotel is a recommended 1 season show to watch between Season 4 and 5 of Breaking Bad

FWPJR.

Heck yes, I just finished watching all the reactions to Breaking Bad over the weekend. I’m ready for more, this is great news to wake up to.

FWPJR.

That’s definitely a great movie to react to on 4/20 lol But it has to be the Gene Wilder one and not the Johnny Depp one

djKENTO

Oh 100%. I haven’t seen the new Wonka prequel but I would wait if I knew I could watch it with the react.

mojo shivers

The fact that the doctor who treated Doctor Fieldstone after her bike accident is Roy’s sister is my favorite Easter egg/callback. They even dropped the bread crumb that she was an emergency room doctor and that’s why Roy is always watching Phoebe when her mom is on call all the way back in season one.

Andrew

For the love of God, pls no break between S4 and S5.

Grubering Hans

definitely do break into another show in between for everyone else who isnt a fan of breaking bad!

Reid Mclellan

Honestly my biggest concern is that, if they don't take a break with a lighter show like they have been doing (I know ted lasso has more serious moments even though I haven't seen it) they will be utterly destroyed and depressed by the end. Even with a fun lighthearted show in-between season 5 will probably still destroy them, at least it did with me

Chase Lonnergan

Sad to see Ted Lasso end. Very sad to know that it will be nothing but depressing nihilism on Tuesdays for the foreseeable future. Hopefully there's an intermission series that lightens the mood.

Deadly Ramon

Not only should they watch BB seasons 4 and 5 without a break, but immediately after they should watch El Camino and all seasons of Better Call Saul without any disruption.

SuPaTiLt

One of my favorite easter egg kinda things is during the super league meeting, Akufo's handshake guy can be seen teaching an old white guy the 'fresh prince' handshake in the background.

HeyHeyJK

I know it would never win in a million billion years, but to get things started with 'mini/one-off shows' I always have to recommend "The End of the F***ing World" on Netflix. A fantastic British dark comedy with only two short seasons, each with only 8 25-minute episodes. Based off a graphic novel (well, the first season anyway) and one of my all-time favorites. Based on my extensive 5-second Google search, only 4 other reaction channels have done it, but you would both love it. If it helps to sway Simone, there's a love story involved (Netlfix even put out a 'rom-com' trailer for it). Of course, if we're gonna go short British series, I also have to throw in "Fawlty Towers" with John Cleese. 'k, bye.

Tomas Gaspar

I am really sad that this emotional journey ends today...very very sad.

djKENTO

joke at the end you might have missed. The “ussie” guy says “Wicked” and then Ted replies “Kinky Boots”. Wicked is a musical and so is Kinky Boots.

Jeff K

Ted's mom reminds me so much of my mom it's crazy. The actress was also fantastic as the mom in Freaks and Geeks.

sarCC

Yay!!!!! Breaking Bad Season 4!!!!!! Also, I recommend watching the movie What We Do In The Shadows so you can follow it with the TV series Wellington Paranormal...and the series also called What We Do In The Shadows.

Anonymous

Jaime Lannister's arc was everything but not great. He was a good character until season 7, but his arc was ruined in season 8.

Justin James

You should definitely check out Jason Sudeikis in "We're the Millers"! It's a very fun comedy. Also can't wait to resume the Breaking Bad journey! The final two seasons are excellent!

Jon

that's it... end of Ted Lasso... it’s time for a (very) quick review : - Season 1 : very good surprise 😁 I heard of the show before, but didn’t really care for it… thanks CineBinge for making me watch it - Season 2 : some good moments, but weak writing overall 😕 (especially some episodes… and what they did to Nate - if the idea was to him to quit the team and join Rupert, they didn’t have to do him like this (too sudden, ... the guy become a real assole very (too) quick… doesn’t make sens, it’s way too pushy) - Season 3 : same good vibes as season 1, … some shortcuts near the end, but better writing (a « back to the roots » sort of speak), and a nice ending 😁 conclusion : nice surprise ! … don’t really care for season 2 overall, but it was really nice show … now, back to Breaking fuckin’ Bad !

Ryan Skinner

"Boy, I love meeting people's moms. It's like reading an instruction manual as to why they're nuts." -Ted, Season 2 re: meeting Rebecca's mom. :) I'm so glad you guys did this show. It sits among a lot of television royalty for me, and no matter how many times I've watched it, it never loses any of its potency. And watching it alongside favorite YouTubers is all the better! I've watched 2/3rds of the reaction and will have to circle back for the finale later today, but I LOVE both of the first two episodes watched. So many little call-backs, character developments, and laughs. This show just warms my heart!!

Persnickity

Could not ask for a better season finale. Everything wrapped up in a bow. The personal victories we wanted, the villain getting his comeuppance, y'all two learning about the phrase "pop a squat". Art can be perfect and I think this show is just that.

Persnickity

I also just wanted to pitch the movie Nimona. I think you both will really enjoy it and I think more people should see it. Its an animated Netflix movie that won some awards. Ease of access + A GREAT MOVIE FILM

Mastervodo

One of the best TV series of all time. Equal parts laughing out loud and crying your makeup off.

NareikAC

Season 1 was good, Season 2 was even better but then season 3 felt rushed and was poor writing

BlakeK80DrumCovers

As a proud Mancunian, i absolutely love this episode. Our City is poor, impoverished, and has practically been forgotten by the government, but still i love it with all my heart. Even if we do say things like "Poopeh" and "Keeleh" :D Also yes, We (Man City fans) do indeed sing Bluemoon before City games. It's a great old anthem. It's also great how they didn't paint Man City as a villain in this show, more like the nemesis

Tenn Seven

I totally agree with Leslie. Those Willy Wonka kids are dead.

Terry Yelmene

Ep. 10 I call this episode- 'The Richmond Concerto' as played by Nathan Shelly - Nick Mohammed [violin] and his real-world wife [piano] (it's one of my favs of the entire series) Ep. 11 First, Fuck you. It's a lot. Then, Thank you. Turns out, it's even more. - To the Moms! "They fuck you up, your Mom and Dad... They may not mean to, but they do... They fill you with the faults they had... and add some extra, just for you... They were fucked up in their turn... By fools in old style hat and coats... Who at the time were soppy-stern and half at one another's throats... Man hands on misery to man... It deepens like a coastal shelf... Get out as early as you can... and don't have any kids yourself." ~ Mae Green's poignant poem - part of Philip Larkin's "This Be The Verse" The Finale As Ted said, "There's not many places like AFC Richmond." - especially when you must say "goodbye..." but we must. Ted NEEDS to go home... and we must let him, even as we go on wholly bettered by having had him in our Richmond lives, for this brief, but most special time. So go 'home' Ted - WE LOVE YOU!

Terry Yelmene

BB is a great show, written incredibly well. The El Camino movie giving us more of/for Jesse is great and BCS is just about as good... but PLEASE! God! NO!

rycolaa

British shows are generally nice and short -> The I.T. Crowd, The Inbetweeners, Friday Night Dinner, Slow Horses, Ghosts

Guillermo Antonio Ricci Alvarez

Not sure if someone else said it, but you guys missed when they mentioned there was a gas leak on their neighborhood so they had to go to a different place during the night

Travis H

Just rewatched International Break and wanted to do a post specifically on this episode because I have hinted about not liking this episode all season. My opinions are pretty much the same (maybe a little bit more positive) but most of the big plots of the episode just do not work for me. The positives for me is anything involving Jamie (the MVP of the season), the return of Phoebe and the amazing Uncle Day scene, and I like the Keeley and Barb stuff in the episode. The big issue here is Nate’s plot…or the fact that the crucial moment of his arc of standing up to Rupert and quitting happens entirely off screen. Then he spends the entire episode upset over something we don’t see that clearly affected him. It’s also such a big moment that it apparently changed Ruperts character who appears “nice-like” for no reason this episode, but who knows why, we don’t. The Nate’s dad stuff also doesn’t work for me but I will say that watching George’s reaction in particular did kinda change my perception of it. I don’t have that immigrant backstory, I also grew up without a dad so a lot of father/sons stories I have a disconnect with. But my perspective as a fatherless guy is Nate’s dad saying “I just want you to be happy” doesn’t work, they put NO work into that relationship for him to say that on the show and have it be effective. Every interaction between the two was Nate trying to include his dad in his life, and then Nate’s dad shooting him down. This was a moment that purely happened because Nate’s arc requires it to happen, but it wasn’t earned at all. But again I think a lot of my issues with the father/son plot are purely my own issues manifesting themselves….which I don’t love realizing. My other issue is that Akufu doesn’t work as a character for me (which is disappointing because I really like Sam Richardson), he is too much of a cartoon villain and he (and the handshake guy) annoys me. I have also become very cynical in the last few years and have issues believing old rich men would change their mind about making more money due to an emotional speech, but I think that may just be another me issue that I need to work on. I also don’t find Dark Danny to be funny, he’s just an asshole. I get why people think it’s funny, but I think it would have worked better if he continued to be nice to everyone else and did a dr jekyll and mr hyde type thing. Anyways this episode still doesn’t work for me, but I am realizing that a lot of my issues with it are issues about me…. Which is NOT what I was expecting this post to become but here we are. Looking forward to watching the last two later, and if I post again later I am hoping it’s a lot shorter and has ALOT less self reflection. And if not I really enjoyed rewatching it with George/Simone and discussing it with everyone here!

Stephanie Bedworth

I'm so excited for this. I would love at some point for you guys to check out Six Feet Under in the future. Very good show and I think you guys would like it.

Jeff K

How accurate is Phil Dunster’s accent, since he’s actually not from Manchester?

Logan Kerlee

I had a great time finishing this show with you both. :) Looking forward to next week's fun.

BlakeK80DrumCovers

It's pretty good. He has a lot of the more subtle inflections down, but it's a bit over the top at times. He's from Kent i believe, so really quite a different accent for him to attempt. Yeah, he did well.

Tenn Seven

I think you guys might not have noticed that the guy with the baby on his chest at Beard's wedding was the huge guy who chased Beard down in the middle of the night after he caught Beard with his girlfriend (and then saved Beard from Jamie's dad and his drunken friends).

Josh

So will breaking bad season 4 be back next week? Lol jk jk you guys are in for a treat with season 4

Anonymous

On the BBQ at the end, as a Brit we still had BBQ's every year but for about half of them we'd have to drag the grill into the garage part way through because it started raining. With a small garden it'd usually end up with half the guests outside and half sitting in the living room or standing in the kitchen making drinks.

JoeE

Polish jokes (and lightbulb jokes) were very popular in US into the later 20th century. U should watch raising Arizona

Jonathan Wyman

Wow. I think I love every one of those things you hated. I think leaving it unknown exactly how Nate left West Ham, is genius writing.

Jesse Coombs

Oh man, I hope you guys react to "Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory" (1971) some day. It's one of my favorite movies, and Gene Wilder is fantastic in it.

Jonathan Wyman

Man, those Breaking Bad fans can't even keep to their own threads. They feel the need to come into the comments for the reaction to a different show entirely and harangue you (and us) here.

Simon Pegged Me

Agree with you on most points, but particularly on Nate's redemption and Dark Danny. Both seemed out of the blue twists or developments that belie everything that came before.

Simon Pegged Me

When they reveal that the barflies and May have bought shares in the club, the scene ends with May straightening a picture of Geronimo. This is a reference to the American sitcom Cheers, about a bar in Boston, MA, where losers by almost every measurement of success in life go every night to feel accepted, respected, important, and loved. The owner kept the same picture of Geronimo in his bar, and straightened it in the final episode. The picture represented one of the actors. He played a bartender, and died early on in the show's run. Straightening the picture in the last episode was a tribute to him, a thank you for his contribution to the show's success. I think Ted Lasso is tipping the hat to Cheers, as May's pub has been that place for its regulars and this series.

Jay

Thank you George and Simone for reacting to this wonderful show, it's been a pleasure watching along with you guys! After watching season 1, I was trepidatious about watching 2 & 3 as I heard mixed reviews and 1 felt perfect but so glad I did. This really is one of those few shows that ended as close to perfectly as possible. Speaking of perfect shows haha, regarding the next 'big show' poll gonna again just quickly throw out 'Black Sails' as a suggestion. Only 4 seasons though but the story is epic. As I've watched you guys more, I truly believe the deep characters, intricate storytelling and thematic ties to works of classic literature and even some greek mythology peppered in will be right up your alley. Plus seeing as you're a fan of HBO's 'Rome' George, the late great Ray Stevenson plays an amazing role in the show too. Anyways hope you guys and anyone else who hasn't watched it give it a go. Visualised literature the show is. Can't wait to continue Breaking Bad!

Jesse Coombs

The Good Place, Community, Arrested Development... They have a lot of good light-hearted options.

Jesse Coombs

Oh yes! Freaks and Geeks would be an amazing show for them to watch as well. No one has reacted to that, as far as I know. (Also she's really good as the mom in "Girls" as well.)

Jesse Coombs

I think my comment got buried or I didn't hit post, but it would be great if y'all would watch "Wily Wonka and the Chocolate Factory", the 1971 version.

REDR58

I am fairly certain there will be more Ted Lasso, or at least a spinoff. The show was way too successful for Apple leave it there for good. You guys should consider watching “Severance” on Apple TV+ after BB. It’s excellent.

REDR58

I’m in the US and it’s funny how in my part of Pennsylvania my extended family will have parties with folding tables set up in the garage and around the back of the house. It’s just easier to clean up afterwards. Plus, most of us have fairly large garages! That and we have wedding receptions at firehalls…weird.

Jared Winn

I held my composure until the Cat Stevens song started, then I completely lost it 😭. Love the show and loved the ending. Glad I was able to watch with you.

Adam K

Fantastic review of a wonderful show. If looking for another quality show without a long run - Season 1 of Severance or Series of Unfortunate Events is an underrated classic.

Kristopher Feldbusch

Sine it seems you haven't, you guys have *got* to watch Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971). The remake, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005) might be worth it but only in contrast to the original in a very CineCringe sort of way.

Darin Foat

In real life George Wendt, who played Norm on Cheers, is Jason Sudekis' uncle. Sudekis credits him for showing him that making a living in show business wasn't an impossible dream. And he confirmed that the Geronimo picture is a deliberate homage to Cheers.

Hollis Hamilton

My favorite is the reveal of Beard's backstory with Ted and how he gave Nate a second chance to honor what Ted did for him. Episode eleven is full of second chance storylines, even the choice of You've Got Mail as the team movie is no accident. I'm surprised Simone didn't catch that since she's such a big fan.

Anonymous

You can see during the west ham match every time they cut to show Henry Michelle and Jake they are more annoyed/dismissive with Dr Jake signaling that the relationship is over

John Stam

so brett goldstein wrote another Apple TV plus show called shrinking, its one season in and its perfect, same kind of good feels as lasso, brett goldstein isnt in it but Harrison Ford is so thats great. please I hope you guys react to it

Jonathan Wyman

Thank you for a great series of reactions to a wonderful show. Okay, two short points and then my big idea. 1. Dottie is short for Dorothy... from Kansas. 2. Nate's 50 page apology boiled down to: "Ted, I'm so..." 3. I don't see a season 4, I see a whole new show based around Richmond WFC (women's football club). Women’s soccer is growing (all over the world) right now. In fact the Canadian Women's National Team is suing the Canadian Soccer Federation right now. If Ted Lasso was about fathers and toxic masculinity, Richmond WFC would be about mothers and women supporting each other. I see it as centered around Rebecca and Keeley. Rebecca is now a step-mom. A team of women would include daughters, sisters, and even some mothers. Maybe by season 2 Keeley is thinking about being a single mother. Who does the baby look like, Roy or Jamie? Think of the comic possibilities with Nate, Beard and Roy all taking a turn at trying to coach the woman's team. Maybe by season three, George's plan will happen and the Lassos all move to England so Ted can coach the team and bring it all full circle.

Anonymous

I don't think the show ever had "bad writing". It had its flaws, granted. But there are way too many amazing payoffs, character arcs and jokes to even get close to "bad writing".

Anonymous

It's a show that in many ways gets better upon rewatching it.

Jon

Ani Herr : well, first of all, I said "weak" :) ... and yeah, for me the Nate arc caracter is not good... the guy is a sweetheart all season 1… and first scenes in season 2, he's already becoming an asshole 🤷🏻... seriously, at the time you didn’t think that was weird ? I’m mean, ok he's insecure, ok he has Internet recognition… but that hole thing is way too much, the guy flip completely it’s like they tried something, and corrected it at the end.... I didn’t care for it :( but the show overall is good :) strong season 1, and nice season 3

HeyHeyJK

They're filming S2 right now and I can't wait to see it. Great show and maybe my 2nd favorite Harrison Ford performance ever (my all-time fav is still "Witness").

Robert C

I really enjoyed your reaction to this show. Thank you. If you're looking for a new show to follow it up, you can't beat The Good Place. At 4 seasons of 13 episodes running 20-odd minutes, it's a little longer than Ted Lasso. Basically the story of people trying to be good or learning how to be good in insane circumstances. It's funny and heartwarming and insightful all at the same time.

HeyHeyJK

Yeah, I’m sad to see this series end, especially since I'm not watching BB at all, but, your reactions to this show were everything I hoped they would be. A few super random notes. In the episode where Akufo kicks out the Russian man who then proceeds to keep pulling the door to get out of the conference room even though he's told he's supposed to push it HAS to be a reference to the very first sketch in the Netflix show "I Think You Should Leave with Tim Robinson" which actor Sam Richardson (who plays Akufo) is in, although not that sketch. You should watch it to see what I mean (and because it's such a great show but way too short for you to react to). You may have realized it while you were editing the final episode, but you asking about why Ted and the group stayed over at Rebecca’s was very quickly explained by Ted and involved a gas leak in their neighborhood so they couldn’t stay at home. You were both discussing the fake out about them sleeping together and missed it, from what I could tell. Also, every book that Beard (mostly) is seen reading in the show has a specific meaning, most being an inside reference the audience isn’t always supposed to know. But, watching your reaction to the finale was the first time I noticed that on the plane home to Kansas, Ted was reading “How to Change Your Mind” by author Michael Pollan, which was a best-selling non-fiction book a few years ago on the author’s investigation and experimentation with psychedelic drugs, specifically psilocybin and LSD, and the new research into their benefits and possible future implementation for mental health issues. Seems like an indirect callback to Ted’s mushroom tea experience in Amsterdam, perhaps? Ultimately, for me and my weird subset of empathy, so much of the final episode hits me due to how I think it must have felt for Jason and the rest of the cast, especially with Hannah Waddingham. If you go back and watch her acceptance speech when she won her first Emmy award, she talks about how getting this role changed her life, and in subsequent interviews she discusses it as well, because Jason (along with the rest of the Producers, of course) cast an older actress instead of going with a young, more petite one, which is often the situation. With all that in play, their final scene together at the airport just rings so very true. The speech Jason gives the team in the locker room during the final match also hits, knowing it was him truly saying what he felt to the actors. Even before that, much of the storyline with Ted’s split from his wife had to have been, at least in part, based on Jason’s split from Olivia Wilde when she - from what we’ve been led to believe - basically dumped him for pretty boy Harry Styles and broke up their family (her getting served custody papers on stage in front of a large group of press was insane).

ANYhoo … great reactions to a great series. As previously mentioned, if you want another ‘feel good’ show to rival this one, assuming you haven’t already watched them, “Schitt’s Creek” and “The Good Place” are absolute musts. Both series ended on their terms when the time was right and both are hilarious while helping us learn more about what it means to be good humans, and what’s really important in life.

HeyHeyJK

I've heard so many great things about that film, and the animation looks great. Gotta check that out ASAP.

HeyHeyJK

That's what's so great about them! I can barely stand to watch American shows anymore (and I'm saying that as an American), even the ones with just 10 hour long episodes like on HBO.

HeyHeyJK

I learned about the rivalry - for lack of a better word - between Manchester and London during, of all things, a documentary on the rivalry between Blur and Oasis during the 'Britpop' era. Especially not being from the UK (although that's where basically all my DNA is from, along with my surname, so I like to say I'm only American by birth) I didn't know of how the people in that area felt looked down on by the posh Londoners down South, although I guess that was also part of what The Beatles fought against in their initial days of not being taken seriously because they were from Liverpool. I also saw a clip of Sir Ian McKellan on The Graham Norton Show talking about how when you get in a taxi in Manchester, the drivers will often ask "Where to, love?", which is really beautiful and seems to be a true indicator of what Mancunians are really like. I hope to visit that whole area as soon as I can get back over there (and then find a way to never have to return to the US!).

HeyHeyJK

Haha, I forgot about that joke in RA. Yeah, given how many other films G&S have watched by the Coen brothers, they're long overdue to watch it, and it's definitely one of the only full blown comedies in their filmography, plus one of my all-time favorite Nicolas Cage performances, and Holly Hunter is amazing in it, too.

Ryan Skinner

I think you're overlooking a lot of issues Nate has in season 1 if you think he's just "a sweetheart" throughout. His heel turn is a slow burn from the first moment you meet him and, in my opinion, is handled masterfully. I'd even go so far as to say that the importance of Nate's story and how well it's crafted, save for a few minor bumps along the way (largely by omission of events I'd have liked to have seen; not the actual writing its self), is second only to Ted's story in this series, or at worst is on-par with Rebecca's story of growth and changing ones self for the better.

ExtraBigAssTaco

I would love to see a reaction to The Good Place 1000%. Schitt's Creek is also great.

Jeff K

I think The Good Place is one of the most perfect sitcoms ever made, from start to finish.

Jeff K

Nick Mohommad (the actor who plays Nate) went on Twitter after the season two finale aired and pointed out all of the small and subtle hints that Nate wasn't as nice and harmless and sweet as he initially came across, and yes, he points to the very first time we see Nate he's screaming at Ted and Beard, how easily he slips into insulting the players, how when he thinks he's been replaced he immediately gets aggressive toward Rebecca and calls her a shrew, etc. It's subtle but it's all there, which is why I bought into his heel turn completely.

Jeff K

I keep meaning to check it out, as well. It is wild to me, though, that one of the fucking Try Guys voices one of the main characters. Who saw that coming?

Jeff K

And Brett has said he's open to appearing on it in the future, but it has to make sense for the show. Agreed, it's a really good show, and again, a Bill Lawrence joint. I wasn't sure what to expect but it was such a pleasant surprise. I'm a big Jason Segel fan, too. He's terrific in it, and I think it's some of the best work Harrison Ford has done in years.

Jeff K

If they do make a spinoff about a women's team, I hope they bring the recurring background character of Shannon in as one of the players. (She's the one who Ted sees schooling dudes in the park, and is always dribbling a ball around when she sees Ted in the neighborhood.)

Jonathan Wyman

Absolutely! She also is buying Trent's book in the finale. I hope we get Phoebe and Roy's sister involved, and Sassy and Nora! Dr Sharon could cover both teams. I like the idea of players from the men's side mentoring players from their home countries who come to play. The US Women's National Team has a couple of mothers dealing with the problems of juggling motherhood with the rigors of being a pro athlete. I mean, the series almost writes itself.

scott melton

LEGION! One of the most interesting shows of the last 10 years.

Poddington

I've watched all of Ted Lasso 3 times now and even my robot heart is filled with joy. It's like wearing cosy jumper sat on a sofa with blanket over our lap near an open fire that has a dog sleeping infront of it.

Astraeos

Next TV poll should be interesting, though I guess I'm just assuming there will be one for a Ted Lasso replacement. Anime for a different sorta palette break from Breaking Bad? Or another comedy? Or maybe just another heavy show all together lol. I know most people probably wouldn't be interested, but damn there's some great documentary series out there a la Planet Earth or Cosmos (the Carl Sagan version) type stuff.

Opti_Frog

I don't give two hoots about Breaking Bad, but What We Do in the Shadows (the movie) is one of my favourite comedies ever.

Opti_Frog

The writing in season 3 is a bit weaker than the first two, but i don't really care because i just love to spend time with these characters.

G P

Recommending Oz or The Sopranos

BlakeK80DrumCovers

Well, if you do ever get a chanceto visit, you will no doubt be made to feel very welcome indeed. It's funny you should mention the Blur v Oasis Britpop battle, that was during my mid teens and i was a huge Blur fan ironically enough (hahaha). I still am really. I don't mind Oasis, but Blur are amazing.

Joe Lazarus

The Sopranos!!

Anonymous

Black Sails! Such an underrated gem...if you know, you know.

Anonymous

Chiming in to recommend the Sopranos, been watching it with my roommate and it's a very good show

JBK405

I've only watched two of the episodes, but it's late and I have to go to bed so I can't watch the finale with you just yet. That said, I think it was an overall good close to the series and an appropriate end to everything that had come before. My biggest complaint for these three episodes actually echoes what you both said in #10: We should have SEEN Nate leave West Ham. How he did it would have said so much. Did he blow up at Rupert and storm out? Send a short e-mail and then immediately close his account so Rupert couldn't respond? Send a professional and detailed resignation to HR? Any one of them could make sense in a different light, and I think just skipping over it was a misstep. Other than that, everything else was either great or 'good enough', and for a series finale building off everything that came before 'good enough' is GOOD ENOUGH.

Opti_Frog

Everyone's arc was ruined in S8 because hardly anything made sense. 😄

HeyHeyJK

Oh, wait! What the hell is wrong with me (so many things, but I digress)?? For your next one-off series, you should so watch "The Queen's Gambit" with Anya Taylor Joy! 7 episodes and just brilliant and wonderful. Also, the showrunner for TQG - Scott Frank - did another 1 season show on Netflix called "Godless" that was great and starred Jeff Daniels in my favorite performance of his (and a rare villainous role), and Michelle Dockery from "Downton Abbey". It's a western about a town comprised of almost all women, because all the men in town died in a mining disaster. It's just great. I still want you to watch "The End of the F**king World", too, but wanted to get TQG on a poll, too, hopefully.

Kevin

When BB is done you definitely need to watch Better Call Saul. But to replace Ted Lasso, I highly recommend Succession (which is a drama but to me is actually a funnier show than Ted). If you want something shorter, you can knock out Severance (only 10 episodes so far). The Bear is also great.

Zinphad

I'd put up Beef on Netflix as a one season short react. Ten episodes, about 30 minutes each.

Jeff I.

Yes! Beef would be great to see here. Wouldn't take them long to finish, and it's really good all around.

I'd be happy with all three of the shows you mentioned, though I'd prefer Succession over The Bear. It's just the better show overall.

Now I have returned and watched the last episode with you! I said it before on previous videos, but I heartily recommend "The Good Place" as the next mixup series to watch between seasons of "Breaking Bad". Not only would I love to see your thoughts, but I think you'd honestly enjoy it. Particularly a huge resonance with these last few episodes of "Ted Lasso" that I can't say in detail now but you will GET IT once you do.

As a quick hit, one season show, I suggest "Wonderfalls" (2004). Fox gave it no chance at all and only aired 4 episodes, but they filmed a full season of 13 episodes that was later released on DVD. Since it's out-of-print (as far as I know), some nice people have uploaded it to YouTube (see GABAELIZ's Wonderfalls playlist, for example). This was a great, goofy show...probably my favorite show of the Bryan Fullerverse.

I enthusiastically support "The Good Place" as a recommendation. Such a great show. I actually can't believe y'all haven't already watched it for CineBinge...it's, like, required viewing. :)

If you objectively look at Dr. Sharon's story arc, I think she's meant to be the counterpoint to Dr. Jake. She's hired to treat Danny then takes the position as team doctor. She begins to bend the rules in an effort to treat Ted, then suddenly leaves, only to return to the team as soon as he's gone. I think it can be viewed as she chose to remove herself from the situation to avoid acting unethically. You could chalk this up to her being a superior therapist or even just a better person than Jake but possibly it's because she knew from treating Ted that his relationship with Michelle was unresolved and therefore his living and working in England was not yet permanent and she felt she couldn't be the one to help him resolve that if she was employed by the team.

When are we getting Breaking bad season 4? JK

Sorry; haven’t watched S3 yet (heard it was bad, but I’ll get around to putting the bow on Ted Lasso). So, obviously…didn’t watch along, and am even avoiding comments for spoilers. But have G&S announced the next series?? I saw someone recommend Severance, which I 💜ed; and, personally I love The Bear…though I’m in the biz, and know it translates outside of people who have restaurant experience. I’m just not sure it hits QUITE as hard.

Curious if anyone else had this experience: When I watched S3 when it "aired" I liked it but felt a bit of meh and left thinking it was the weakest season and a B+ Watching it thru with Simone and George this time was only my second viewing HOWEVER it really shifted it for me and I saw a lot more cohesion and story arc clarity and came away thinking it is still my least favorite season but I loved it and hold it in the same esteem as 1&2 now. Maybe it was just a little dense and needed a rewatch to catch everything in the way they meant it??

I really disliked the finale, so was kind of shocked at how much you guys loved it. Everything felt so forced to me. I hated almost everyone's outcomes -- hated Ted leaving his found family and world-class job to return to a family that did not appreciate him -- Rebecca's plan would have been fantastic, and now Ted doesn't even have Beard. And it doesn't help that Sudeikis looks so depressed and sad in those final moments. Hated what they did to Keeley this season, and especially hated that they spent the entire final season on the stupid love triangle that was never believable to begin with -- even worse because Keeley and Roy were so good and healthy as a couple overall, so their abrupt split never made sense to me. The season even managed to tank the Roy/Jamie mentoring in the final third. Ugh. I hated that Beard stayed with toxic Jane (and that Ted wasn't even there for the wedding), hated the way the season handled Nate's entire situation (when I actually really thought what they did with him in season 2 was so brave and complex -- season 3 comes around and they just retcon his father as no longer being abusive?!). The only thing I was okay with was Rebecca meeting her Flying Dutchman again. But the psychic thing was just cringeworthy. (Sorry. I was just so disappointed -- I love the show so much, so season 3 was just shockingly bad to me. But thanks for the reactions!)

This is a big one of the examples when I mentioned that s3 has too much telling not showing. They skip over huge moments and then tell you they happened. Colin coming out to the team, Nate quitting. It’s very frustrating

Overall I was fine with most of these things. Ted going home was more about his son than anything and it'd be really unfair to say that Henry didn't appreciate him. Whilst Keeley's relationship wasn't my favourite I was totally OK with her not ending up with Roy, it would've been too cliche otherwise and her arc felt more about self-growth to me. I also disagree about tanking the Roy/Jamie relationship, they had a bit of conflict in the end but it was short lived and played mostly for laughs. Friends can fight and go back to being friends very easily and I think that's what happened. Beard staying with Jane was meh but he was always an odd character and they never really used him for many of the more dramatic story points. I enjoyed Nate a lot in season 3, actually more than in season 2. I think I felt iffy about what they did with him by the end of S2 but S3 brought it around in a way that made me appreciate S2 more. I think my biggest gripe with the series as a whole was how they treated Ted's relationship with his ex. I thought it was perfect in S1 that there was no bad guy, she had just fallen out of love and it felt like such a mature and healthy look at a tragic situation. When they introduced the couples therapist storyline it kinda ruined that for me, it's like they had to give Ted the moral high-ground as if we already weren't gonna be on his side. They could've achieved a lot of the same plot points by introducing a new boyfriend into the picture, they didn't need it to be such an unethical thing.
