"Cinebinge. It's the original one." Unlike those despicable mutant offsprings, amiright? :-( /sarc "Good Dear God, please like and subscribe." I see Chris Farley has had an influence.

As a major comic book nerd since I was 10, one seen always bugged me in this film. Juggernaut is not a mutant. His power comes from a gem in his chest. His powers should not have nullified by the kid. Would have been fun for them to play with that in the movie. Although I love this movie for the reveal of Iceman's comic accurate for when he takes out John/Pyro

Happy Hanukkah

I take it that the movie's title comes from the scene at 16:03. :-P

Jeff I.

Just want to say as someone who isn't a fan of most of the comic book movies (DC/Marvel), I appreciate y'all spreading this series out. Haha

Jeff K

The part about this movie that bothers me most, when it comes to Juggernaut, is that you have Juggernaut and Colossus in a movie together... only to NOT have them square off!?

Damn this movie was a bad script with some golden moments.

3:00 Ewwww, Simone! :-) 3:10 Fun fact*: it took three days to set up this one cigar-lighting shot due to safety and insurance concerns. 3:25 :-) This "fastball special" tactic was commonly used in the comics. Note that in the comics, Wolverine is a 5'3 "shrimp" (nearly a whole foot shorter than Huge Ackman), and Colossus is, well... :-) 4:04 Vancouver. Aka "mutant Murka!" :-) 5:39 "I hear you're quite an animal." Perhaps an ""easter egg"" reference to the fact that one mooted origin for Wolverine was an actual artificially mutated wolverine. 10:18 "She came back... but different." I can't be bothered to think about how many movies and other fiction this could be a tagline for. 10:21 "Her mutation is seated in the unconscious part of her mind." As an erstwhile editor, this sentence hurts! 10:47 LOL. Ya dirty mutant, George! :-) 15:57 Answer: Which version of Magneto? :-/ Given the most passing familiarity with modern physics, it should be easy to figure out that there is precious little that Magneto couldn't do, constrained only by raw "power" and "fine" control. This has left much latitude to writers, which they've taken full advantage of. (Eg, turning invisible, creating wormholes, ...) 16:53 ... and acknowledge your greatness. :-/ 28:02 (Just Trust) Ash says hi. 28:05 Christopher Nolan says hi. 28:12 Joe Pesci says hi. 29:32 Rebecca Roe-main. Like the lettuce. Which ironically enough, was her sole source of sustenance for eight years. [/joke] 29:45 etc. Unless some of the budget is due to those changes... 31:02 "Gosh! Movies are so crazy!" I demand this be appended to all of your reactions henceforth. :-) * Which I just made up.

Regarding the ending. Wikipedia: In a post-credits scene, Xavier speaks to Moira McTaggert (Olivia Williams) through the body of a comatose man, implying that the Phoenix had not entirely killed him. Xavier was able to survive by transferring his consciousness into the body of a comatose patient. This is something he discusses at the beginning of the film as part of an ethics class, the question being if it would be ethical for a mutant like himself to attempt such a transference, noting that the man in question was virtually brain-dead. On the DVD Commentary, it is revealed that the body on Muir Island is someone named "P. Xavier." One of the writers noted that this character is Xavier's twin brother who was born brain-dead (due to Professor X's amount of power). Since P. Xavier was born brain-dead and stuck in a coma for a long time, Charles Xavier can't walk in his brother's body and uses his old wheelchair. Xavier's return is an example of a comic book death, which refers to comic book characters getting killed off but not staying dead permanently. This scene was not in the script but was secretly added during filming. And here I am, wearing my "Magneto is my Homeboy" hoodie

And no interaction between him and Charles? :-) (In the comics, they are stepbrothers.)

I saw the best single-paragraph summary of the "cure dilemma" reflected in a conversation online a few years ago: "Finally, a cure for my chainsaw hands," said Johnny Chainsaw Hands. "We don't need a cure because there's nothing wrong with us," responded Billy Five Dicks. Storm, a woman whose powers are so amazing that she was once worshiped as a literal goddess, has not had the same lived experience as Rogue, who runs the risk of accidentally killing people on the street if her sleeve rides up and she brushes against them. Mystique's abilities have varied wildly in the comics (As all superpowers do) but USUALLY she can't do the full-body-shifting that you were asking about. She's stuck in the general human shape and approximate size. She can get a little bigger or smaller to do different people, but can't shrink to a pebble or grow to a giant. She also can't separate any part of her, it's all HER body so even if she could turn her arm into a spear she couldn't throw it at somebody without cutting her arm off. In the first X-Men film she did generate claws when she was impersonating Wolverine, but despite looking like his they were still only flesh-and-bone and his real claws cut through them and it was extremely painful for her. Within those limits, the writers do play with it a lot. In one comic sequence, when she is baiting somebody into shooting her to "prove" that she's not Mystique, she shifts all of her internal organs to the bottom of her torso so that the bullets just pass right through her chest without causing any significant damage. In another, she split each of her arms into two so should could wield multiple weapons. Magneto's powers have also varied a lot -- sometimes it's specifically "magnetic" and sometimes he just controls metal (Even non-magnetic metal) -- but I don't think I've ever heard of him being able to use electromagnetic fields to manipulate the human body like you asked. There have been other mutants that could "turn off" a person's heart or brain with electricity powers, but not him.

Katzchen1984

I don't think anything would happen if the kid got injected by " the cure " because they made it from him.

Happy Hanukkah

:-) at the cure dilemma summary. Given the "recent" interpretation of "mutancy" as an LGB analogy, it is difficult not to hark back to discussions/outrage about a hypothetical "gay cure." See also the hostility of some Deaf activists to developments such as cochlear implants.

Ian Hunt

Vinnie Jones is a former football (as in soccer player) most famous for kicking people a lot. And if you google Vinne Jones and Paul Gascoigne, that as well

Anonymous

How can a spikey guy be pointless?

Adam Wetstein

The movie first is about the anti gay movement. “ the cure” = conversion therapy. It then morph into the culture wars taken to the logical conclusion. Other also point out it btw Christian ( Xavier ) versus Jewish magneto. Later stan Lee tried walk it back by have Magneto wasn’t Jewish. No one believes him.

Happy Hanukkah

It would have been an easier sell to claim the rich utopian egghead Charles was also Jewish. :-) :-) :-) Unfortunately, Xavier is a very odd name for a nice Jewish boy. :-)

Travis H

To expand on why James Marsden wasn’t in the movie much. He was cast in Superman Returns which was being directed by the guy who directed the first two X-men movies (and all around terrible person) Bryan Singer and they were filming at the same time. I don’t know what Rebecca Romijn (pronounced like Romaine) was doing.

Adam Wetstein

Yep. I don’t know if they missed it. The holocaust survivor story line is not in the OG X-Men comic. I believe it was only in Age of Ultron. But i may be wrong.

For those interested, I shall recycle myself and once again present this article: https://www.cbr.com/the-abandoned-an-forsaked-magneto-is-a-gypsy/ Some additional notes for this article: (i) Magneto first appeared in the first issue of the X-Men in 1963. (ii) Uncanny X-Men #150 if from 1981. (Of significance is that Kitty Pryde is a young Jewish teenager.) (iii) Uncanny #199 is from 1985. (iv) Classic X-Men #19 is from 1988.

Adam Wetstein

I saw it. I consider this a way for the Jewish Stan Lee to absolve himself of making a Magneto into Shylock.

Wrencher86

Every time I see Ben Foster in something I have to recommend Hell Or High Water. Sorry. Just the way it is.

Jeff K

Finally watched that last summer when my parents came to visit, because my dad had been recommending it for awhile. It's genuinely excellent.

Dwight Scarn

As entertaining as this was I'd say this is one of my least favorite of the Xmen franchise....can't wait till ya see days of future past!!!

Nathan Jasper

I hope you continue with the whole series! I'd love to see your reactions to Wolverine, DoFP, Apocalypse, Dark Phoenix, New Mutants... Basically all of them

"Whats the deal with the spiky guy, he seemed kind of pointless to me" - quite ironic, to me he seemed to be plenty pointy!

Godrick

"one my favorite dumb one liners, and i think most people already know what im talking about"...... no seriously, why did i know exactly what he was talking about? i had so little information to go on...

Happy Hanukkah

Did they change this? I could have sworn the line was: "I'm the Juggernaut! Bitches leave!" :-P

LighthouseGuy

Ive said it before but Ill say it again, I hope they do a re-watch of logan. Such a fantastic movie.
