When it comes to dancing, I'd love to see you guys react to "The Red Shoes", "Singing in the Rain", or "All That Jazz". All these movies are about transitions, and they are all masterpieces.

To answer George's question, it was shot on Super 16 mm film to capture a "cinéma vérité" feel. The film grain is intentional. Other modern movies shot on 16 mm, such as "Moonrise Kingdom" and "Carol" also capture a similar warmth and nostalgia. It's crazy how even a slight change in the visual medium can make the movie feel different.

"The Fountain" by the same director could be a great reaction movie because there is even less dialog than this one and much less body horror.
