You need to watch some comedy or animation with your dad. Poor man needs a break...

Jim Finley

Makes me wonder how his experience of trauma affected him after the war. As George's dad said, medics and hospital corpsmen saw more suffering and death in combat than anyone else. In one documentary about E Company of the 506th PIR that was portrayed in Band of Brothers, they said that after the war Doc Roe had a hard time and drank a lot to cope. Being with Easy Company from its formation to the end of the war, Doc Roe would have had his hands on just about every casualty they suffered that whole time. Desmond Doss's unit, and he, had actually already seen a lot of combat before they got to Okinawa, and he was already well known and respected for his courage and dedication to saving people. One of the real wrongs was that in the U.S. military, medics and corpsmen got paid less than their contemporaries of the same rank. Some ignorant SOB at the Pentagon decided that since they didn't carry weapons, they were noncombatants, so they didn't deserve combat pay, even though their job was more dangerous and traumatic than anyone else's.
