Most agree this is the absolute worst of the franchise. It's such an odd 90s/early 2000s artifact, even for a John Woo movie. After this films, the series is consistently excellent and ups the ups the ante with every in statement in breathtaking fashion. Hopefully, this film doesn't put you off on continuing the series.

Magnificent Gojira

At least this is the movie done by real director as well as the first one. Others are more 'realistic' in many ways but they're just Tom Cruise self-indulging (sometimes fascinating nevertheless). Hard Target is fun!

I enthusiastically join others in advocating for John Woo's Hollywood debut, Hard Target (1993). It's not the most John Woo movie nor the most Van Damme movie, but its insanely over-the-top style is highly entertaining. I was simultaneously admiring it and laughing at the ridiculousness. And Lance Henriksen steals the show as the villain.

The climbing made me think of a documentary you guys should watch: Free Solo

Ooh, that'd be a pretty fun reaction, now that I think about it! It's a very well done documentary.

Noe Ramirez

I can't stand John Woo's movies. haha but I love the fact that he has his style and when you put on one of his movies you know its him. Now that style isn't for me and every single one of his movies gives me a headache, but I respect the hell out of him for doing what he does and not giving a shit what others think of it.

Face/Off is peak “John Woo in America” insanity. Nick Cage is peak crazy Cage. John Travolta is … in it. By comparison, it makes Con Air look like a very reasonable documentary of something that could happen.

"MI2" is still a "Woo" of a Film...

Hang on! You guys got breaking bad season 1? Why can’t I find it? Or did you guys accidentally show us the future? In that case: I can’t wait!!

Armchair Wizard

They said after Ted Lasso they're doing season 1 of Breaking Bad, and perhaps more after that.

I think George is understating the mismatch with the tone of this film - the first one is a suspense film with some action sequences, but the big standout moment is Tom Cruise just freezing and hoping not to be noticed. This one's all over the top action. It's a really good action movie (better than I remembered, in fact), but it's not even the right genre! (I never watched the ones after this because I was sick of Tom Cruise by that point, but I'd imagine they're better liked because they move back towards suspense.)

Jesse Coombs

If you love "sexy shenanigans", I'd highly recommend "Out of Sight". It's by the same director of Ocean's Eleven and is in the same shared universe as "Jackie Brown". It's really good.
