This blew me away when I saw it on the big screen in 2008, then I watched it a few years ago and really wasn't feeling it. That guy with the camera is so irritating, one of my least favourite movie characters ever. But I think 10 Cloverfield Lane is phenomenal!

You can actually see when the monster arrives at the end when they're on the ferris wheel and he's pointing the camera at the ocean you can see something fall from the sky into the ocean around that area where that cruise liner is passed it in the distance

George, there's a great comedy series called A Touch of Cloth, from the UK. Karen Gillan's in it too!

TJ Miller is a POS; google the train incident

The hype around this movie was unreal. That first viral trailer, that didn't even have a movie title - just a release date, made a large portion of the internet lose its collective mind. 10 Cloverfield Lane might actually be an even better film, but The Cloverfield Paradox is god awful. Surprisingly it didn't kill the whole franchise, because a fourth film is in development, supposedly a genuine sequel to the first. Both Lane and Paradox were re-writes of existing original scripts that were completely unconnected to the first Cloverfield movie. I've always been a bit uneasy about that, like forcing something into a franchise. It worked really well with Lane though, but not at all with Paradox.

As a lot of other people have said, 10 Cloverfield Lane is really good and worth watching, Cloverfield Paradox isn’t terrible, just entirely forgettable and not really worth a reaction.

I know it's a movie, but in 100% survival mode the last thing I'm doing is going on a suicide mission to save my ex-gf.

I agree with most people. 10 Cloverfield Lane is worth checking out. Different style of filmmaking/storytelling, and it's directed by Dan Trachtenberg - who used to co-host a fun movie/tv/game review show called The Totally Rad Show. He also most recently directed Prey, which was great. The third movie in this series can probably be skipped though. It wasn't worth watching, IMO.

Okay so Cloverfield is a code name for the movie that became the movie’s name. It has a meaning beyond that now, but at the time this movie was literally a total mystery. When they first debuted’ the trailer it didn’t even have the name. It was just part of the party scene up to when the head lands in the street and then the release date. And it was like a month away. Nobody had heard about this movie, knew anything about it, and then BOOM it was there. They had a huge ARG online that told more backstory of the characters, filled in some JJ Abrams lore like the name Kelvin and Slusho drink which is in JJ’s TV series Alias and is even in the Star Trek film from 2009. I just googled Slusho to see if the old website is still up… It’s not… IT’S A NEW SITE THAT JUST LAUNCHED RECENTLY! This means we might be getting more Cloverfield soon!

Awesome reaction!! Super enjoyed watching this with you both. Excellent ass movie that received so much criticism when this came out. I haven't seen the sequels but after rewatching this I'm all for it. I'll be voting for the sequels! I got so many flashbacks of watching Godzilla while watching this. This is a quality monster movie!

Please, when/if you watch "10 Cloverfield Lane," just forget about the title. It's a standalone story that doesn't even take place in the same universe as the first Cloverfield. If you let yourself get distracted, looking for connections to the first movie that don't really exist, then it will take away from the experience of "Lane."

Yay! Now you can watch 10 CLOVERFIELD LANE! Not that you couldn't before, but nonetheless. It's an excellent movie with a couple of the best performances this century.

Okay, I saw this in the cinema (it was great, sound design was awesome) and my memory of why it was called Cloverfield is because it needed a title that wouldn’t attract any attention from early 2000s movie bloggers and leakers. JJ Abrams was at his peak coolness and it’s related to his mystery box theory of storytelling ie. keeping the audience in the dark. Cloverfield is a completely meaningless title so when it was announced that Cloverfield was coming out those pesky internet people didn’t go and work out the plot and spoilers. The Cloverfield franchise is an anthology series and it works on the opposite principle. By sticking the name Cloverfield on a low budget sci-fi horror it will attract attention. If you want a good monster eating people POV style movie then I can’t recommend Nope highly enough. With all due respect to Kong: Scull Island, Nope is the best monster movie since Cloverfield. I think I’ve recommended Bad Times at The El Royale before but after The Martian, Cloverfield and Cabin in the Woods it’s the number one Drew Goddard movie.

The bit with the army right behind them was incredible sound design

When I saw this in the theater there were four 12 year old kids sitting in the row in front of me. They were the perfect audience to see this with. They screamed their heads off at everything. It was great.

I would have never expected that George was a man of the cloth.
