This is a good one, but I've always thought the movie that really captured Chevy Chase's humor the best is Fletch. It's really worth checking out.

Never been a huge fan of this movie but this reaction was yikes. It's fine to not like a movie you react to but to overreact to and over analyze scenes from a silly irreverent comedy as if this was real or a documentary is really strange. I never thought watching Chevy Chase swimming naked with Christy Brinkley would cause more outrage and judgement than watching 100's or 1000's of people getting murdered in most action movies that have been reacted to, but whatever. Christmas Vacation may be a better movie but it's the same style of comedy. Not sure why they would like that one any better.

Christmas Vacation is actually a funny movie. I went ahead and watched this again last night and it is simply gawdawful despite a very few funny bits. It’s much like Police Academy, best left in the past. And the dog scene is still reprehensible.

Fun side note: cousin Vicki is Jane Krakowski from 30 Rock and Kimmy Schmidt. Edit: also, looks like you didn't notice that Rusty was Anthony Michael Hall, famous for his roles in John Hughes movies like The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, & Weird Science, but also in Community as Jeff's bully Mike in the Comparative Religion episode.

can't be sure but the security guard they make lie on the floor, i feel he may be the shouty captain in last action hero. could i have checked before commenting... yes i could, but where is the fun in that!

Back in the 1870s a group of undergrads started a magazine called the Harvard Lampoon and spend the proceeds on beers. This has continued to this day. In 1970 a group of Harvard grads started a humor magazine called National Lampoon, paying a royalty to Harvard Lampoon (more beer money). Both publications have routinely combined intelligent cutting-edge wit with crassness and low-humor, and they routinely attack the elite, the holy and sacred. The national magazine went out of print in 1998, but their production arm is still producing Vacation and it's sequels are not among my favorites. The best National Lampoon is Animal House, but be ready to cringe. This movie took frat-house humor to a new level. Horses will die, women will lose their clothes, and (spoiler...) an actor will portray an exploding zit! Yet, it is hilarious, and yet even the intelligent will laugh at it.

I enjoyed watching this for the first time with you both. :) This is a movie that I thought that I watched growing up but nope! This was a new one for me. Definitely a movie for it's time! Turns out that yeah, I watched the Christmas one instead. If/when ya'll watch that I think that I'll good time then as well. :) lmao, I'm with you George! Down with the double standard! xD
