Have you tried Rumble for full patreon reactions (unlisted links)? Youtube is going the way of the dodo, the censorship and copyrights claims are getting completely out of hands - watch Rick Beato's rants on this (copyright especially). He's an accomplished musician and producer with 3.5 mln followers on YT and gets copyright strikes all the time. Poor guy just tries to explain music theory to the masses.

Tacitus G. Kilgore

This might only be a me problem but I frequently forget the release days and times for your reactions, maybe you could a short schedule on the about page for it. Just an approximation. I'll be refreshing the page at about 9pm AEST tonight because I think there's a movie reaction but idk lol.

samuel Jakob

I dont understand why people dont get the part about the videos being covered, not to mention I hate it when reactors have the movie and especially the audio in their video.

Cinebinge

Video upload dates are always the following Tuesday - TV Show Thursday - Movie Saturday - Patreon voted Movie Sunday - Movie Any extra bonus videos such as monthly recaps or cinecringe will be any of the other days as they become available.

David Martin

Having the video on the screen, even a blurred copy, helps with synchronization. Just having the time code is not enough because different copies of the movie often have different producers' credits at the beginning, so the actual movie doesn't always start at the same time. Also, if you have to pause the playback for some reason, sync'ing based on the time code is very difficult to get precisely right. And there's also the occasional instance where one copy is slightly slower or faster. I agree about the audio, though.

MasterElodin

One suggestion I would like to make is to include sound for maybe the first 10-20 seconds if that is possible with the copyright. Syncing up via audio tends to be a lot easier for me than visually because you can hear even slight delays very clearly.

Cinebinge

we've actually tested this before, unfortunately we've had YT's detection match the audio of a movie in as short as 5 seconds, and thats assuming there is no music; and since most movie begins with some sort of music, that will require it to be even shorter of a duration.

Cinebinge

It is unfortunate the copyright restrictions are so severe, however something to consider is that this exists on YT due to external pressure from studios as most of us remember old YT days when entire movies and tv shows were available on that platform, until the lawyers from studios got involved. We can also assume that given the opportunity, if YT weren't forced by studios, they would choose the path of least amount of work and there for cost for developers to create a copyright detection bot. All this is to say that the same pressure can and likely will one day be applied to other platforms as it reaches critical mass. That being said, a second reason we haven't chosen any other platform aside from YT is longevity. One of the long term aspects we have to consider is whether a platform will stay online and free well into the future. YT in that aspect is grandfathered in, while other platform that has been around for just as long is either shutting down or changing into "Pay for Bandwidth" like Vimeo. We have to consider if these factors may come into play in the future with newer platforms that are free and open now but will it stay that way when its operational and bandwidth cost reaches past its ad revenues. Transferring hundreds of videos in terabytes of data is something not only time consuming but likely not feasible should a newer platform one day decide to start charging huge sums like Vimeo for traffic and bandwidth, or simply choose to shut down due to lack of use or funding. Thats why currently, our path of least evil is still YT but we do continue to keep an eye out for other more viable options.

after watching this video, and reading the comments, i think there would be a strong interest in a behind the scenes video. Like, how long does it take you to edit a video now compared to the beginning, what your setup is like, stuff like that.

Jim Frykman

Just to chime in as another voice, I prefer that it's obscured video with no audio so I can sync it during the studio intros and go back to whatever else I'm doing without echoing audio at the start.

MasterElodin

Well first 10-20 seconds would for pretty much all movies be only the logos as well. But makes sense that it wouldnt work and its also not that important anyways. Just a nice quality of life thing I noticed with some other creators.

Naturekitty5309

Not sure how other Patrons feel but I would like once a month or twice George's pick, and Simones pick. Alternate months or just do 2 a month.

Cinebinge

we are going to keep experimenting, the other difficult part is that these copyright detections isnt universal, its actually different for every channel and every video. edited or otherwise, we've tried mimicking what other channels do with exactly the same movie, and exactly the same lay out down to the frame and it will yield different results. with edited its even more crazy, our First Blood video for example, started off as 40 minutes, trim down to 27 minutes, reuploaded 4 times and its still copyright claimed and blocked from view for 57% of our audience while there are definitely other channels with edits that are 40+ minutes with no issue. so the random nature and inconsistency of it (likely intentional to make copyright not so easily beaten by actual illegal distributors), makes it really hard to create an all round format.

possibly.. if i ever get around to vacuuming up all the cheeto dust first.

I would really appreciate you providing source version information, for your full reactions, in the descriptions when you post to Patreon. Rather than waiting until I get to the point in the film where you (George) say the duration right before you start the film, just to find out whether or not I actually have access to the same version that you are watching, it would be really useful to be able to quickly check the description and make sure I have the same version ready to go before I get settled in to watch. Having the hh/mm/ss duration and the retail/director's/extended/unrated/platform/etc version information available before starting up a reaction would be a really nice quality of life improvement.

Eric J Watkins

Thanks for the insight. I also think it would be awesome if every now and then, you each picked your own film you wanted to see, regardless of polls or nominations.

YoureMrLebowski

and show outstanding customer service! you're in the empire building business george.

I'm going to delete my Youtube account, because I can't/won't deal with their censorship anymore. I'm hoping that doesn't affect my watching of the pattern versions here. If it does I'll have to discontinue my patron status unfortunately.

Anonymous

I do love the content and love watching movies with both of you. But on principle I can't continue to support youtube anymore.

Assuming no God Level Patreon means abandoning hope of ever getting a reaction to A Serbian Film?

Tay Schumaker

They seem only interested in movies that both won't get copyright strikes and do decent views on youtube. So I am guessing that's a no for Serbian films.

Jay

I wonder if George has seen it, he's dabbled in extreme cinema. Well, he's mentioned seeing Salo and Irreversible.

Śéáń

What's your favourite food? Do you like cats? What's 2+2?

JayF

Somehow I see this resulting in George being strapped down like he was in Clockwork Orange while Simone makes him watch bad romcoms.

Peter Hudson

Sweet, that makes sense. Was wondering why Boyz N the Hood comes up sometimes even though I suggested it forever ago, and now I know why! Here's to hoping it gets voted in sometime, Ice Cube at his best

rkhc

Are suggestions always just a most popular thing wins situation? Or do you ever take a look at them to see if they pique your interest, then just pick them if they do? How do the non-Patreon-voted movies get decided? Just whatever you guys are curious about at the moment?

Jesse Coombs

You guys weren't the first reaction channel that I started watching, but you are the best. The thought behind our viewing experience is really nice. Also, I think we've all learned a lot about Simone and George, and they seem like genuinely good and interesting people. So the reactions are gold because I really want to hear their take. I used to do movie nights for friends and I helped to run a cinema, so seeing these reactions has helped fill a hole for me, since covid dashed a lot of that. Thanks.
