The Ring - Patreon Version

I hadn’t seen this before but I thoroughly enjoyed the reaction. Horror movies work best as a communal experience. I guess the “you gotta show it to other people” thing works on that meta level. It gave me strong Solaris vibes for some reason. Totally different genre and everything but they both have a cosmic unknown element and they are both cultural adaptations from 2002. Solaris is closer to Interstellar or Sunshine genre and story wise.

Not usually one for "horror" movies... because they think they're terrifying and just aren't. Which leaves'em a bit nowhere with me. But, because you two watched it, I'll watch along.

First time I watched this was with my whole family. We're all sitting on different furniture when credits rolled, and I discretely called the house phone from my cell phone. Phone rings. My sister leaps 8 feet in the air and screams "DON'T ANSWER IT!!" at the top of her lungs. My parents are looking at each other wide-eyed and slack-jawed. Meanwhile, I'm sitting on the opposite couch quietly laughing.

Love the reaction, but after seeing it, I'd be generally worried for her mental well being if you ever reacted to The Grudge, this movie had parts that scared/freaked me out, and for me The Grudge turned it up to 11, at least for me. haha. Thank you for suffering for the internet's entertainment! :) You guys are great.

Anodyne

Nope. Not watching. Just nope.

im sorry simone, but part of me really wished george had called her phone after the video scene in the cabin.

Noe Ramirez

I love this movie. I feel like this version is a classic unto itself. Also, dying for you guys to do Midsommar since y'all liked Hereditary. Lol

Squ33ky

Remake is good so good choice

Spent most of the movie watching Simone’s half of the screen but as soon as Noah said “it’s over” I looked down and made eye contact with George as he and I both shook our heads no lolololol

This was a LOT of fun to watch with you both! xD I remember watching this as a kid that lived up in Seattle area. So much fun history with this. :P I haven't watched the sequels though, so if/when we get to those I hope to enjoy them. :)

Alas, The Ring Two, which I hadn't seen since theaters and thought was bad then, I rewatched the day after watching the full length reaction to this, and it has not aged like a fine wine. It's absurd. Might be Cinecringe worthy though. It would be about on par with Speed and Speed 2!

Since you brought up Brian Cox, I'd love to see reactions to "Manhunter", "Rushmore", and of course "Succession". And I agree with everyone talking about Naomi Watts. She is so good in "Mulholland Drive".
