Star Wars starts right out, and George Lucas was fined by the Directors Guild for not showing the credits, which apparently was a "thing". It ultimately led to his resigning from the Guild, which was a lose-lose for both parties.

the movie on the TV is one of the Hell raiser movies i think

REDR58

2:08 seems to be the R-rated version which is available for free on Amazon Prime for those wondering.

I remember watching this movie because of that scene, but was pleasantly surprised about the movie itself being better than expected. But no longer being a teenage boy it has dropped a few points. A Michael Douglas movie that would make for a great reaction is The Game by David Fincher. Just a small pronunciation tip on Verhoeven, the OE is pronounces as the oo in oof.

I love that you guys love the wire so much. You are truly my people.

Huckleberry lobo

Okayy I'll rewatch Last Action Hero

Gary Fixler

George - the guy in the boardroom that you said was really dramatic is Stephen Tobolowsky from Groundhog Day (Ned! Ned Ryerson! BING!).

Alex Ch

You know what a really good thriller-related film for a reaction would be? “Presumed Innocent” with Harrison Ford.

Brendan Rafferty

Simone, you recognize Jeanne Tripplehorn (the psychiatrist) from tons of movies and TV shows years after this film, when she was a little older and heavier, most notably as the first wife in the HBO series Big Love…. George, a blue haired woman refers to an old lady with a bad wig

Dustin Duvall

Not to be that person, but the blue hair comes from a rinse elderly women would use on their hair and when done poorly gave the blue tint

Brendan Rafferty

Thank you. I had it wrong all these years. Still little old ladies, but not wigs. Thank you.

When the Dutch singer-songwriter Anouk was big in the 90s, I remember seeing a snippet of an interview of hers where she was asked what she thinks about the director "POHL Ver-HOE-ven". She was like, "?!" and went, "Oh, PA-ool Ver-HOOF-en!" I'm sure I'm butchering the weird way English-speakers use pronunciation guides, but that's when I learned how to say his name. Not that I've ever heard it pronounced correctly after that. I've forgotten what she thought of the director, though.

My personal conclusion has always been that Beth did shoot her husband - and possibly kill the professor. After all, Catherine Trammell was involved with her - and Catherine only falls for killers.

Lie detector tests are admissable in the US only if both sides agree to their use, which efectively means that they are not admissable. They're not bullshit, but they are not 100% accurate either, and they are not a "red-line" kind of test. The results never say absolutely lie or truth, but depend on an expert's interpretation. Think about it. If you make a poorly timed fart, the embarressment might be seen as a lie.

So…I needn’t bother watching Gone Girl now then? 😁 Rightly or wrongly, for me the two signs pointing to Catherine’s guilt during the conclusion was the cop saying Beth’s answering machine tape was unused (so swapped out) and Catherine being in Nick’s apartment without a key (so capable of planting evidence). I thought the final ice pick shot was too heavy handed and would have left a much more enjoyable talking point for everyone after watching without it. I personally think Catherine was the stalker and killed everyone, including her parents, and Beth was completely innocent.

I think you guys should consider Body of Evidence with Madonna and Willem

Defoe for cinecringe. It's soooo fantastically bad. A horrendous wish.com doppelganger of Basic Instinct. The zipper sound effect in the elevator scene. 👀👀
