"Maybe Prez can adopt them?" Or someone else...

Episode 11 of season 3 is my favorite episode of The Wire, but season 4 of The Wire is my favorite season of ANYTHING!!! This show's greatest achievement is the arcs of Carver and Prez. I hated Carver, Herc, and Prez with a passion at the start of season 1 yet the first episode of season 4, Prez and Carver are two of my favorites. And the good thing is, their redemption never felt forced or "in your face", just a natural progression that slowly happened over seasons.

At the same time, too, while Herc is still pretty much a piece of shit, every single thing he does and where he is as a character makes perfect sense because of how well written and performed the character is.

George looking all confused about the use of lye, and me about to comment why they use it, and then he's like "Lye needs to be on bare skin, at a ratio of 2:1 lye/body weight, and disintegration happens over the course of 2-3 weeks in an exothermic reac--"

So, I'm not sure if its been recommended (I'd imagine it has), but 'Barry' is an absolutely amazing show, well worth a watch.

Ginger

Yeah sure but WHEN ARE YOU WATCHING THE WIRE SEASON 3??? :p

Ginger

Two great shows you might enjoy that are somewhat underrated: "Travelers" and "The Peripheral".

Danika Silva

Wondering when the next installment of KFP will be available 🤔 👀 😕😐😭🇨🇦

Maarten Martens

That opening scene of S4E1 is so good, whenever I need a quick Wire fix I put it on. Shit is tight yo.

The woman who plays vice principal Donnelly got the most Bawlmer of Bawlmer accents.

David Brophy

Have y’all considered watching the sci-fi version of the Jumanji movies, Zathura? By the same book writer that wrote Jumanji.

John Richards

they are not using lye - it's quick lime. Quicklime can aid in eradicating the stench of decomposition.

Shonnicus

If you go back and watch Game of Thrones the actor playing Tommy Carcetti, aka Little Finger will every now and then slip into his Baltimore accent on GoT as Little Finger.

Einherj

I suggest the HBO series Carnivàle. Just two seasons. Great story. Great characters.

The Film Effect

This is a top 5 season of any tv show ever. It’s so damn good.

The new version of the theme song was commissioned for the show and was arranged and performed by a group of local Baltimore teens, Ivan Ashford, Markel Steele, Cameron Brown, Tariq Al-Sabir and Avery Bargasse, credited as Domaje. Also note that each season's credits contain clips from previous seasons, emphasizing the show's gradual pull-back from focusing only on drug dealers and police in S1, adding the the drug smugglers and the destruction of the working class (and unions) in S2, city politics and reformers in S3, to S4 and how the education system tries with varying levels of success and failure to prepare young folk for the world they will be entering while knowing little of the world they come from. Note that Walker (who robs Randy of his $200) is our first portrayal of an actual corrupt police officer. Not lazy or dumb, he just exploits his power over residents for his own gain, much like Avon or Marlo (but not Omar who only steals from the advantaged). Walker is (along with Carver's partner Colichio -- and perhaps Herc and Carver in season 1) representative of the real-life Baltimore cops we will meet in David Simon's We Own This City, a docudrama about corruption in the BPD that was ongoing during production of The Wire and continued until the participants were arrested and prosecuted in 2017. Marlo appeared to be very impressed with the lack of fear in Michael's eyes when he confronted him -- Same with Cutty, who ignored his entourage of young single mothers to admire Michael's technique on the bag. Namond carries Wee Bey's blood in his veins, but while he talks a big game he clearly doesn't have Bey's drive or intensity. Randy has a big smile and appears to be the idea man in the group, and might have the best home environment of the four. At this point we know little about Dukie other than that he is clearly the most at-risk kid we've met in the show -- he seems to be one step away from where Wallace was at in season 1, and even that step might be an improvement. Be on the lookout for more familiar faces to appear in the next few episodes.

Paul T Hewes

the best season of the wire.

Robert Cooper

Maybe excluding the first, but yeah. The characters this season are all just amazing.

Chris

Quite mad that youre questionjng the show runnwr... David Frickin Simon man. The guys a genius. The writing team has more input from actual crime novelists by this point though theyve been involved feom the start. David Simon. Look hom up. Hes a tv making god and IS THE Wire .

James Stephenson

Yo Baltimore in the chat what's up yall

SlaverStudios

In terms of seasons (I like this conversation because while shows can get worse, seasons are suspended in perpetual quality), I'd have to say its: 1. Game of Thrones S1. 2. The Wire S4 3. Fargo S2 4. True Detective S1 5. Breaking Bad S3

Tenn Seven

They didn't talk about Chris or Snoop at all, nor about Marlo. The season opening scenes with Snoop, Chris, and the nail gun rival Omar's court scenes for best in the series.

Kangdarius

I’m not watching along with these but I just came to say this is one of the best seasons of any show ever imo. Right up there with stuff like the 4th season of dexter.
