Put the bunny back in the box

Falling Down seems to have a new cult following that doesn't understand you shouldn't be on the side of the main character of the movie. It's turned into an angry, white, incel, middle-aged, gen-xer's fantasy movie. I saw it when it came out and it deserved all the bad reviews it got at the time. Not a good film, but it seems there will always be an audience of "victims" that love it.

Jeff I.

I don't really understand this take. So they shouldn't watch it because of what a handful of morons have taken away from their viewing of the film? Would you say the same thing about Taxi Driver or Joker because of those films' main characters and themes being similar to Falling Down? Like those two great films, Falling Down is fundamentally a character study of certain type of person in a bad head space, and it does a good job at that (though in its own way).

Can't find Dogma on any streaming platforms. Not even to buy or rent

Was rolling my eyes when I saw con air winning until I saw everything else on the list. Con air is certainly the preferred from the list.

Choi_Yujin_Stan_Account

Casablanca easily the best film on the list...but in terms of watching a reaction..I would say Con Air is best...I'm not sure I'd even want to see a Casablanca reaction w their jokey style of reacting tbh

Rob Church

Con Air is a better reaction. Casablanca is fine. It def doesn't hold the quality or weight it used to.

Jesus F Christ

I never said they shouldn't watch it. I just think it's a shame it's being revered by "morons" as you put it. I think Taxi Driver is a great movie, but John Hinckley, Jr's take-away from it was that he should shoot President Reagan in an attempt to impress Taxi Driver co-star Jodie Foster. People will interpret art in different ways and filter it through their life experience. I just find it interesting that when talking about all the great movies from the 90s Falling Down wasn't in the conversation as one of them until around 2017.

Anodyne

Yeah, Bedazzled is really underrated.

Anonymous

I mean these movies are ok but can we do George of the Jungle?

Brandon Scott

It's not licensed for distribution anywhere. But you can find in pirated on YouTube... if you can't, supposedly there are people out there who have copies...*cough, cough*...hypothetically. *wink*

Andrew

I want to throw out the movie "Rounders" with Matt Damon and John Malkovich! Never seen anyone react to it, and it's an awesome movie.

Green Nolan

Pretty sure that dogma cannot be streamed. Throwing in "the abyss" as a movie

Kangdarius

im sure there's other ways lol. Hope u dont think every reactor uses legit sources haha.

Kangdarius

it had no chance in this poll but i do hope yall react to bedazzled one day. Its such a funny lil random film. Elizabeth hurley looks amazing in it too

Tyler Mckenzie

You should add Incredibles 2 and Lilo and Stitch to your list of movies.

Sheens

So what? People also think Tyler Durden is the macho dude we should all strive to be when Fight Club is trying to tell us the exact opposite. I just rewatched Falling Down a couple weeks ago and I still love it, and I'm not some angry incel thinking the main character is my hero; I see him for what he is, and I think the movie does a great job of showing exactly how society can form and push someone to that point. You can enjoy a fictional movie character without having to be that same type of character yourself.

Thomas Wendel

Wow too many great choices! Dogma was controversial but that just means you must watch it. And it's worth it! Bedazzled is good but the original 1967 is funnier (my opinion). Falling down is amazing. I don't know why its not more popular. But above all, you must watch Casablanca! It is a true classic. Not just a cult classic or just popular classic. It is a true timeless classic and it a must watch! Casablanca has it all and remains one of the most quoted movies of all time whether you realize it or not. A masterpiece. Thank you for all you guys do!

Rachel W

An infinitely better film than Cruel Intentions but based on the same source material is the brilliant, "Dangerous Liaisons"(1988), with a stellar cast-including John Malkovich, Glenn Close, Michelle Pfeiffer and Keanu Reeves

It's a shame so many people did not vote for Casablanca. There isn'ta move as great, as timeless and as influential in this or any other poll as Casablanca. Absolute must see cinema.

Martin

More movies: Moneyball Cinderella Man Seabiscuit Glory Magnolia Man on Fire The Accountant Lucky Number Slevin All Quiet on The Western Front (Netflix version) Miracle RRR

Chase Schleich

I'm sure Incredibles 2 is coming up. They just watched the first one recently and really liked it which normally means the sequel gets put into the rotation.

Wrencher86

I'm voting for Con Air on this because I think it will make for a fun reaction but also because I hope it gets you guys on a John Cusack streak and we get High Fidelity and Gross Pointe Blank. If you really want to continue that streak, 1408* is great little Stephen King adaptation. *It has to be the theatrical cut. There's two other versions that aren't always labeled with extra stuff and different endings and they're, quite frankly, very bad. Or, my perpetual recommendation: Ravenous (1999)

Kelly Pickard

Submitting for future consideration: - Hook (1991) - The Big Short (2015) - Margin Call (2011) - Amadeus (1984)

Alex Ch

For a Brendan Fraser comedy, I would recommend Encino Man. Also includes Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan, Oscar winning film actor Sean Astin, and Oscar watcher Pauly Shore.

redddfer44

The success of individual videos is weirdly dependent on the viewership on Youtube. Popcorn in Bed's Casablanca video has been viewed 217k times, which isn't amazing, but not too bad either for Cassie and better than her videos for The Rock, Top Gun, Tombstone, Usual Suspects etc. For most reaction channels, it would seem to attract about 2/3 of its viewership, with the exception of Ashleigh Burton with ~130K subscribers and ~110K viewers. So yeah, not a massive hit probably, but it's one of those films that take reactors completely by surprise by how invested they get in such an old film. And it's great for getting a lot of references in 80s and 90s stuff.

My theory on why Falling Down is less popular has to do with Schumacher having a long steady history of making mostly OK movies not great but not terrible. Has he had a few legitimately great films like Falling Down and Phonebooth as well as a handful of true stinkers like Batman Forever but mostly his work has just been a safe middle ground that doesn't stand the test of time.

Con-Air Cruel Intentions Falling Down

Joe Mallard

They're hilarious. I'm honestly surprised they haven't reacted to them yet.

dieselbeast

bedazzled would be such a fun watch, Brendan Fraser and Elizabeth Hurley are great together! Oh well maybe sometime later this year lol

Jobbe Smit

Oh man Falling Down and Con Air are both amazing albeit quite different movies. They ooze the 90's though. Anyway that's a hot list!

Anonymous

OMG Dogma is at 666 votes… please no more votes for it! Hahaha

Anonymous

Please watch What we do in the Shadows (2014). It's great. I think you two would love it.

Shane Darcy

What is this terrible list

AlimonyMoney

Prey and Gremlins 2

Ginger

Nooo, someone ruined it. 667: The Neighbour of the Beast

Kristopher Feldbusch

Casablanca is a classic for obvious reasons, but I can't see a poll including Dogman without selecting it. I also can't vote for Dogma without saying that the rest of the View Askewniverse is absolutely worth the reacts. Clerks is a cult classic for a reason after all. I'll absolutely forgive you both for not doing Mallrats or Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back but I have to say I really, really hope I'll be able to see those reactions someday.

AlimonyMoney

Clerks was awesome. Last one Clerks 3 was their way of saying there is no more. But there is a movie Clerk like style that the daughters did, set in the same setting.

Onno Smits

Put the bunny back in the box!

Ballsac McGee

you should also watch there will be blood

Hamesque

Dogma's a good choice because due to licensing limbo it's on YouTube for free.

Odd Thomas

I knew I kept my Dogma DVD for a reason (mostly because it hasn't had any other release!). This is why physical media is so important. Once you buy it, it's yours for life. Streaming giants can pick and choose what's available, mostly ignoring classics in favour of new content that's mostly garbage.

804Media

Or, equally as bad, modify it after the fact and A) pretend it's better and you're bad for disagreeing, or B) Try to frame the original as "problematic", instead of just letting it be a product of its time.

Middy

Yeah, streaming giants... that's where I'm getting these...

djKENTO

There is a gorgeous new 4K release of it dropping soon. Would be perfect timing.
