On the names thing, the book as a project started serious. But as the writer hang out with this wallstreet types he was taken aback by the vapidness, the shallowness of their interactions. They all looked and acted interchangeably, there was no sincerity. So he started to rewrite it more while taking a piss at the culture. The fact nobody knows who he is, not even himself, is the pinnacle of this. The fact the murders happened or not is downright irrelevant because nobody knows who died. It might be Paul Allen and they mistook someone else for him in London. Or he was in London and someone else died. In the end nobody truly cared for Paul Allen because the culture is messed up.
