Since there isn't a lot of reactions on this movie, and I like this movie and just wanted to ramble. I am wondering if Alejandro (del Toro's character) is Mexican since in my opinion, it's not very clear. He says he was a Mexican prosecutor but other characters keep bringing up Medellin which is in Colombia; and in the border crossing scene when he is pointing his gun at the guys in the car, I don't know if he is saying "con paz" (in peace like the subtitles say but subs can be wrong sometimes) or "compas" (which is short for compadre and slang for something like bro) and he also calls them "paisanos" (which means countryman) and that word is used a lot by Mexicans to other Mexicans (I know Colombians also use it too).

I think they did that on purpose honestly, just a theory but perhaps they're trying to make him like a ghost. Throw in these different things so you're not truly sure where he comes from or what his backstory is.
