A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 is regarded as one of the best besides the first one. 4 is pretty decent. 5 is okay, 6-Freddy's Dead is meh. The other really good one is Wes Craven's "New Nightmare"-the 7th one. I would recommend 3 and 4. And 7. Though 6 while meh, had some neat story elements it wouldn't be necessary to see. And "New Nightmare" is just awesome! 2 is just weird, but I suppose it is worth a watch.

"So much blood" -- *Looks around at Evil Dead....

"A Nightmare on Elm Street was inspired by a medical condition suffered by Asian men in the late 1970s and early 1980s, particular among Hmong refugees in America who escaped the Cambodian genocide. These otherwise healthy, young men were dying in their sleep, and many reported bad dreams prior to their deaths. Further, a childhood bully inspired Freddy Krueger’s name, and a story about a drunk man in a hat who freaked out director Wes Craven as a kid contributed to Freddy’s look. The red and green sweater was the result of a Scientific American article which said those colors are the most clashing to the human retina."

My scariest part was that alley way arms stretch, 1977 The Car

Don't think it's anywhere close, but it's still one of the best 80s horrors.

Wait till you get to Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors. One of Freddy's victims plays a magic-user in AD&D (1st Ed). It's not the best movie but I applaud the inclusion of the game during the 80's because of the Satanic Panic that was going on at the time. Thank you, Tele-evangelist scum!

It’s not the scariest movie of all time. And who are you asking? They found Depp like right away.

If you bothered to watch youd have answered your own question and not made yourself look stupid

I love this franchise and even though part 2 gets a lot of shit thrown at it. It was at least the first horror movie to have a male scream-queen who actually gets saved by a girl instead of a female scream-queen who gets saved by a boy and it tried to tackle homophobia and societal fear around that at the height of the aids crisis when it was really not an okay topic to tackle. Sorry if that counted as spoilers. I was not sure if counts as spoilers given some of the more detailed and spoiler comments I see being posted here on this vid.

I actually really love the reboot but it was not as ground-breaking as it could have been due to last-minute script and story changes demanded by the studio and it is a shame that the 2 sequels to Freddy VS Jason never materialized in film form although they did materialize in Comic-Book form and were pretty awesome.

The Elm Street movies (especially the early ones) feel like they're just on the verge of being legit great, but they never quite reach the potential of their premise. They're ususally hampered by staples of the genre - shaky acting, dumb characters, etc. On the other hand, these early slasher movies were trailblazers, and the only reason we have these meta, super-clever versions of them today was because movies like Elm Street laid the groundwork. Also, Elm Street is always compared to the Friday the 13th movies, but that really does a disservice to the former. Elm Street is Citizen Kane compared to Jason.

My personal favorite Elm Street movie is #4. I love the soundtrack, and I think the cinematography is legitimately beautiful.| I found out much later in life that a lot of the hardcore Elm Street fans consider #4 to be when the series went downhill. (I guess Freddy got too jokey for them at that point.)

re watching this, and I just heard George say he's never seen A Nightmare Before Christmas!?! may I humbly suggest that be included in a holiday poll. fantastic movie, one of my absolute faves!! 💀🎃🎄

If you feel that was a lot of blood for a horror flick, you're gonna want to watch "Dead Alive" directed by Peter Jackson.
