i am honestly scared they stop after season 1 without even watching it to the end of book 1 ... which would be such unfullfilling xD especially with its getting so much better further down the road theres a reason this is one of VERY FEW shows ever that was canceled and amazon went like "hell no" and just bought and continued it xD to have amazon buy the show and continue it... its need to be amazing xD

I don't think it's the darker themes, I think it's the storytelling. BSG has a more traditional way of storytelling.

honestly, i'm still subscribed, but not really watching along with you guys anymore, already 5 eps into season 5 since i started the first episode with them, and i am SO hooked. yeah, it starts a bit slow, but once you're in-- i am VERY much enjoying this. whether george and simone continue or not, i am VERY glad that they (and the polls) were a deciding vote for me to start the series, so thanks guys!

I was hooked into Expanse after episode 4. Others I know where hooked in after episodes 8 and 9. For every person saying they're not into it, may unsub, etc. I am sure I'm not the only person who re-subbed specifically because Expanse is a Patreon exclusive. If somebody doesn't enjoy something, though, there's no amount of poking them to try harder that will eventually make someone like it. That said, however, I feel like finishing Season 1 and then making a decision is at least a fair shot, even though it doesn't finish the Book 1 story of this series.

I'm here for the Expanse, like I came here for Chernobyl. Even if it's not 100% their cup of tea, it's the kind of show which will gain them more patreons.

We'll see if they fall in love with the Expanse. In the latter half of Season 1 the show goes into the right direction and will throw out some hooks to catch on. I wonder, though, if George and Simone's low level of understanding about the characters' harsh ways comes from a general cultural "misunderstanding." We have grown up with Star Trek and a mindset that it is best for us as humanity to learn to work together and prioritize global problems, coupled with a (Western) society where you don't have to worry about your daily bread (more or less). This is completely different with the Belters. Here, the daily struggle for survival counts for a lot, and politically, humanity has just not grown together, but has preferred its own political ideals and factions. And the series tries to show exactly this: how would our future look like, if we do not all steer towards a common goal, but continue to give priority to the "I and my faction". Also, if we continue to consider some groups as second class, etc., what this makes of us and what problems this brings. Expanse is not called "Game of Thrones" in Space for nothing.... . And maybe they just expected more Trek than GoT.... .

I like the Miller detective plotline following Julie Mao, and I really like the ending of Season 1, but I think I stopped watching after Season 2... i recall it being so much politics and whatnot that it just wasn't holding my interest.

In my opinion, BSG is the best SciFi show of the last 20 years. 👍😊 I liked the series (and movies) even more than The Expanse.

what a weird complain to have though. like the point of first time react is to see how they may react which can be both good or negative. i mean would you prefer for him to pretend to like the show just to satisfy your fandom? what would be the point of that. but when hes being genuine, ya'll complain cause he isnt being genuine in the specific way you prefer.

Did I complain? I was making a joke about George complaining about Naomi complaining (even had a smiley at the end!). They're the only ones complaining. And now you complaining about me and others who should not be allowed to complain about others complaining. See how that works? ;-) But yeah, it's okay to complain - it's a free country.

If you end up watching the whole series you´ll understand Naomi´s atitude. It´s intentional/in character/background related, not a casting fault as you mention. That said, tough, her acting skills do improve over the seasons - some even feel that she should at least have been nominated for an Emmy for season 5. As for the Holden casting complaint (appearing to be confused all the time), again i refer you to the conversation between his mother and Avasarala. And if you´re not familiar with it, or didn´t connect the dots, do a quick read up on Cervantes´s and his "Don Quijote". I do hope you give the show one more chance (at least to finish the book 1 story), but having watched all your Expanse videos, i have to say that, besides missing important dialog/video information when you were talking, you also missed the mark on so many other things that you saw/heard... Maybe coming to this with so little time after Firefly didn´t do any good. Completely different types of shows.
