I love the connection between this and Pulp Fiction is the Vega brothers. Both are kind of trigger happy, but Victor Vega is ten times moreso than his brother Vincent is in Pulp Fiction.

Tarantino based the title on his own intentional mispronunciation of a French film he saw when he was young that had “Au revoir” in the title. Forget the full thing but that’s the reason

Not even that young, since it was only a few years before the film came out. Tarantino used to work in a video store and iirc, referred to it at one point "as that reservoir dogs movie". But I think I also heard him deny that at some point. It's been a hot minute since I read the story.

Samuel L Jackson actually auditioned for Mr. Orange I think, and Tarantino liked the audition so much he wrote Jules in Pulp Fiction specifically for him

another movie like this, and from this time period, is true romance. its not considered an official tarantino film because he didnt direct it, but fans include it because he wrote the first draft on it and sold it. if i remember correctly, its the heat he got off of that screenplay that allowed him to finance this movie with him in the directors chair. should really check it out since you both liked this so much.

according to imdb, "The title for the film first came to Quentin Tarantino while visiting a production company and noticing that they had a pile of unsolicited scripts under the label "Reservoir dogs". All those scripts were fighting with each other for attention as dogs trapped in a reservoir tank. The name got stuck in his mind."
