Stick through it, and it'll only get better. First season was the hardest to get into imo, just cause there are som many characters and stuff that happens that made it kind of overwhelming, but as it progresses and you get to know the characters better, it gets pretty awesome.

I bounced off this show a couple of times when people kept recommending it. Then someone told me to make sure I watched up until at least episode 3. And they were right, I hit episode 3 on my third attempt to watch the show and then I just didn't stop. Couldn't stop. Having gone back and watched it all again, I can't even specifically say what it is about episode 3 specifically.

I personally love the first season, but I know a lot of people who don't. It can be tough to get through, but I promise it picks up in the second half of the season and then it just gets a lot better and better in the following seasons. The first season is mostly world building and introducing the factions, but it's something you'll appreciate once you get past it.

Dulcinea (Dull-sin-A-ya) is from Don Quijote. Don Quijote is an ordinary man who imagines that he is the bravest knight, and he invents her in his imagination as the perfect woman for himself. She is the most beautiful princess. Your Dulcinea would be the most perfect person for you to love. I've never watched this before. My first reaction, like yours is difficulty telling the characters apart. I think it's because I don't feel any attachment toward them. They seem a bit dry and even though their situation seems interesting, they don't particularly interest me. Because of it's popularity, I'll stick with you for another episode or two, but I'm not holding out much hope for this keeping my interest past that. At some point I may just lose interest.

This show can take a while to get off its feet, the first season's a bit of a slower burn while it sets the stage for everything that is to come. It's still a very great season, eventually, but it takes a while for things to really kick into gear. I think I had two or three false starts before I finally got through the first 3 episodes in my third or fourth attempt. From there on out, I was hooked. Also, yeah, this isn't a fast-tracked found family situation like with Firefly. They hint at pretty high turnover in the first episode, so people generally don't stick around long enough to form bonds. It's the reason why Holden was promoted, because he stuck around. Then they get into a high risk rescue situation, led by Holden, who handpicks each of them, so you can imagine they're not happy about the situation (late to ceres, losing money, stuck in a tiny rust bucket). And as things go to shit, Holden projects his guilt and grief and anger, and that only flares frictions, which Naomi picks up on since she's aware of what he did. All in all, the situation on the Knight is stressful and the opposite of fun, with a bunch of people who probably don't know each other well at all, aside from Naomi/Amos.

Love that you've started this. Became a patron for this show. It's my favorite sci fi show of all time. The book series is top 5 book series off any kind for me. The show takes its time world buildind to ensure you get that "baked in and lived in " feeling. Also, One of the show runners is an Astrophycist so the show makes a point to get the science right. Like there's no artificial gravity in the show, hence why they use mag boots. There's two ways to generate gravity in space. One is using acceleration of the ships, aka thrust gravity. When you accelerate in one direction, you feel a force pushing you in the opposite direction. The other is Spin gravity, which is how you have gravity on asteroid Stations like Ceres station. When you spin the outside of something, you have the centripetal/centrifugal force pushing you towards the center, which is why for example Miller was pouring the alcohol and it came out weird. As a long time engineer, i can attest whacking on stuff to fix stuff is very legitimate way of making things work and cooperate.

Just because you asked, cause is not really important so far, Dulcinea is the woman that Don Quijote was in love with, from the Spanish book The ingenious gentleman Don Quijote de la Mancha, it's pronounced Dull-see-neh-ah, with the enphasis on the Neh :)

The Expanse maybe easily one of the best sci-fi shows ever made. Different than FireFly which I loved and saw back in 2005. But the Expanse set pieces, details to the world, the story and character arcs are so good! It feels like Game of Thrones, but in the space! :)

That Belter ate a mushroom. Vat grown foods and mushroom/soybean based foods make up thr bulk of the Belter diet. Him eating that mushroom is like you plucking an apple off of a tree.
