I think the implication that the show was trying to say was that Gus knows everything and perhaps Jesse has been bugged this whole time and Gus has been playing a long game or that he just found out by spying on Walter or any other of his ways. It was setup that Gus knows everything and is always one step ahead, so much so that it seems like he has a godlike understand of the world at times. Not that Tyrus in that moment decided to search him randomly, and found it, but that they knew about the poison since the very beginning of the plot between Jesse and Walt, and that day was the day that they went with a plan to poison Brock in order to frame Walt. I don't think they meant that Gus was trying to scare Jesse, but that Gus came up with a plot to make Jesse turn on Walt without him even realizing he was doing Gus's bidding all along. Thats why Walt was laughing at the irony of letting his own hitman into his house willingly, and that Gus played them royally. The episode in Mexico showed what lengths Gus would go to get what he wanted. At least thats how I understood it from watching it myself! haha Doesn't matter anyways since you already seen the whole season but I feel like that moment needed some explanation. Whenever I saw the show for the first time it seemed like it was the only answer that made sense at the time before we got the final reveal of what actually happened! I knew Walt to be evil but at this point in the show I was still very sure he would never hurt a kid. Gus seemed like he had no limits at all.

You guys misunderstood what Walt was saying in episode 12. He implied Gus knew about the ricin from the start. It was created in his lab, and he could've bugged them talking about it. Walt was not saying that Gus found it on accident. Also his motivation would've been to trick Jesse into thinking it was Walt, not scare him. Not that it really matters, since you know the real truth now.
