Version 1.4.3 EARLY ACCESS (release candidate) (Patreon)

A few Patrons who have streaming utilities installed on their systems (like OBS Studio, Twitch Studio, etc.) found that RDR2 was behaving erratically in VR. We investigated the problem together, and as it turns out, those utilities silently create a D3D11 device inside every game they detect, even if you are not using them at the moment. Talk about intrusive behavior. This is especially bad because Vulkan has a specific mechanism designed for this kind of "helpers", and it certainly does not involve sneaking a DX11 device into the game space. Version 1.4.3 adds a special check that should make the mod tolerate this unexpected snooping.
Some AMD users still had problems with 1.4.2; the game would enter VR but the image would be very blurry. We found out that the bug Rockstar introduced in build 1.0.1436.25, which I explained here (the game "forgets" the Resolution Scale value, resetting it to Off every time it is run) is not limited to NVIDIA cards as I initially thought but it also affects systems with AMD graphics cards. Huge kudos to Patron SkyKing, who worked with me for days until we found a stable solution. Version 1.4.3 should now be able to override the Resolution Scale setting reliably even for AMD cards. If you're Team Red and you're upgrading from a previous release, I recommend deleting your RealVR.ini file before running the new version for the first time.
I also fixed a small defect where the black bars might not be detected and removed correctly in specific moments of some cutscenes.
If everything goes well with these changes, in the upcoming 1.5.0 I will add DLSS as an option to the config presets, to provide an easier starting point for further manual tweaking. I have to say that DLSS is growing on me. I used to find it inferior to the game's native TAA, but now that I'm getting used to it, I'm not so sure anymore. It sure looks sharper, and it does make for a smoother ride. Also, NVIDIA is actively updating it and making it better with each revision, while RDR2's Resolution Scale and TAA will never be touched again (except for breaking them with new bugs, grrr).
