[Progress Report]: 14th of May (Patreon)

Happy Mother's Day, everyone!

I apologize if that greeting came too late!

Anyway, above you can see a render from the conclusion of Riley's Workout event from the previous poll. I'm happy with the renders and I'll be cleaning up the script and finalizing it fairly soon.

As for this update, the major hurdle to overcome is the Recreation Room. I'll be spending the following week getting it rendered, coded, and implemented into the Academy. Creating rooms takes a long time for me, so I expect it to take up the week, but after that, there's just a few events left before we can tackle the main story push once again.

To clarify: Version 1.550 (the next one) of Superheroes Suck will be the last piece of foundation I need to start the main story push. It will be the final development cycle for the Sandbox Overhaul.

So close to finishing it, I look back at the Sandbox Overhaul with feelings of strong ambivalence. The first two updates weren't even part of it, technically, they were just catching up Chrys and Valentina with things that had already happened. After that, I went about trying to fix up aspects of the game's story to better accommodate the Sandbox structure. The end result were the Sandbox Events. All H-scenes produced recently have been part of these Sandbox Events, and I think the reception to them has been much more positive. They feel better built up, more engaging, and less tacked on than the original way I did H-scenes. I'm actually starting to see a demand for more H-scene content, which tells me I went in the right direction.

On the other hand, there's been some very strong negativity regarding my decision to take my focus away from the main story. For many players, the central narrative has become the reason to download and play the game, chasing the mystery and trying to guess what plot twist happens before it's spelled out in front of them. Sandbox Events are, by their nature, tired to the sandbox and not the central narrative. I can understand why they have been upset, and so I've shortened the original scope of the Sandbox Overhaul to return to the main story a little earlier than usual. I can always go back at a later date and implement those other changes later. All of the essential work has been finished, minus the Recreation Room.

Which, by the way, I need to get back to planning!
