I'll be honest, I didn't have too much to say for this one but I wanted to be consistent in delivering an epilogue for each chapter so here you go, a few words catching up with Jamie Benn and Burnie Burns from RT Sports: Part II!

Jamie honestly thought he’d miss hockey more than he actually did. After all, it had been a major part of his whole life since he’d been a kid and he’d played professionally for the Dallas Stars for years before a chance encounter and a trivial exchanging of jerseys had caused him to switch bodies with a digital content creator. Although he lived and worked in Austin, Burnie Burns’ life was a thousand miles from everything Jamie had ever experienced before. Completely overnight he had stopped caring about keeping up his cardio and weightlifting sessions and instead was spending much more time with his feet up working through his Netflix recommendations list. It was quite the change for the professional athlete but with each passing day he was growing increasingly more comfortable.

At first there had been some serious delirium whenever he caught sight of himself in the mirror, not used to the rounder face and heavier frame that he now sported, but eventually even the surprise died down and Jamie was simply content with the man he saw in every reflective surface. While Burnie’s life was certainly shy of the excitement that came with hockey’s infamous on-ice scuffles, it provided its own set of challenges in the form of raising a family, particularly the newborn Burnie had with his wife. Whenever Jamie looked at the kids though he felt a swelling sense of pride and it wasn’t long before he began seeing them as his own flesh and blood, the voice in his mind telling him that it wasn’t the case growing quieter and quieter with each passing day.

Burnie on the other hand was starting to get used to the constant cycle of morning workouts and spending a few hours on the ice, sometimes joking around with his buds Seguin and Bishop and other time playing practice matches against the rest of the team that could end up up just as competitive and vicious as any championship game. He relished each moment the rest of the team referred to him as their captain or used Jamie’s self-appointed nickname, ‘Chubbs’. Sure, he wasn’t a lean and shredded pretty boy like Seguin but he did alright for himself and his extra pounds always came in handy considering he was never shy about getting into it on the ice when the situation called for it.

Seeing his family in the crowds for his games still brought a smile to Burnie’s face but each time he felt less and less of a connection to them as he further adapted to Jamie’s life. His career as a co-founder of Rooster Teeth became nothing more than a distant dream with details he could only half recall. There was no great sense of loss as those memories slipped away though, as he became even more comfortable in his new shoes. It wasn’t as if living as Jamie Benn was a curse - he felt more alive than ever and even came to be thankful that they had made the fateful decision to exchange jerseys to try and play a joke on his family. When the hockey season finally came around he was going to show that he was every bit as talented as the man he had replaced and nobody would ever notice a difference!
