“Seriously Craig, what's happened to you? No offense but you were kinda… plain, and now you’re a total stud! You look so happy all the time too!”
It wasn’t the first time I’d heard a comment like that from one of my fellow teachers, nor was it going to be the last. Just a few weeks ago I had been an average looking guy teaching sports at his local high school. I even fit that sorry stereotype of being more out of shape than a good number of my students and the stresses of teaching had aged me beyond my twenty-six years. I wasn't happy with what I saw in the mirror every day and the stresses of the job were seriously beginning to get me down. So many screaming kids and deceitful adults around... it was enough to drive a man crazy. I’d been looking for a way to turn my life around and sure enough I’d managed to find it!
Every time somebody asked what I had changed up I gave a whole host of answers: I’d started up yoga, I switched up my diet, I limited my cell phone usage. Even the students had been asking, and they’d been so much more responsive to my instructions since the changes began. All of those really were changes I had integrated into my daily life but none of them was truly responsible for the fat loss and muscle growth I had experienced, nor the more youthful appearance that came as a result of clearer skin and the eradication of the dark circles under my eyes. No, I had The Perfect Blend to thank for all that.
My friend Jessica had turned her life around in such a short space of time - from intern at a law firm where she was about to get fired to the boss’ favourite getting bonuses on a near weekly basis - and after some quizzing she finally confessed that the secret had been switching up the blend of tea she was drinking. The Perfect Blend was pricey to say the least but it was worth being put back two-hundred dollars a month to radically improve my quality of life. It wasn’t just my professional career that had been revitalized but my personal life too. I’d been on more dates in the past two weeks than I had in the previous two years and there were still a whole host more guys and girls who were trying to get my attention!
I could have shared the truth with my coworkers but the truth was that I didn’t think they deserved it. They had always shunned me back when I had been too ‘plain’ for them and I didn’t have any time for them now they were sucking up to me either. Instead I would just smile and give them a phony answer, all while happily sipping from my ‘Mr Perfect’ mug. The answer was right in front of them the whole time and they had no idea! Being the kids’ favourite teacher and having my boss’ approval was all well and good but I was already thinking about what the next steps in my life would be. With my trusty tea in hand, anything seemed possible!
