EDH Token Collection! Feedback requested! (Patreon)

Hey everyone!

Now that I've wrapped up a few things I want to realize something I've been planning for a while, and that is a Commander Collection!


Since the format has probably changed since I first made plans for this, I want to do the decklist from scratch. For this I'd like to know what you guys think should be in there! I don't actually play Commander so I don't have a good overview over what is played in older decks especially.


The set will have 48 tokens and come with basically all new tokens (or new art for those that were included in Modern Essentials). The campaign will come with some neat new things as bonuses and stretch goals - new sparkly tokens, some exclusives, perhaps a checklist for collections (perfect idea Tomi, thanks!) and other neat things.


So err, long story short, what tokens do you think should definitely be in there for an EDH collection? Fire away! :D

Let's see... Goblin, Drake, Deathtouch/Lifelink Wurm, Zombie, 0/1 Plant, Green/White Elf Warrior, 0/1 Kobolds of Kher Keep, and Saproling all spring to mind to start. :)

I know I need a lot of pentavites and thopters. Maybe some wolves, plants, scions, spawns (eldrazi or spawning pit). Maybe some +1/+1 counters in tokenform?

Personally I'd enjoy tokens themed to commanders even if the tokens themselves are things you've already done. A zombie that looks related to Sidisi in some way is cooler for a Sidisi deck than a regular zombie, after all. As far as a suggestion that you might not think of, though, maybe a "Dethrone" token for multiplayer that the player with the highest life total "gets to" have. Oh, come to think of it, a King/Guard/Assassin/Barbarian/Usurper set for the Kingdoms/Bang variant of multiplayer EDH might be cool, but that might also be too niche of a set to include.

Is there any way you can think of a token which can help track how many times you've cast your commander?

0/1 kobolds (though I don't play Prosh), 1/1 soldiers, 1/1 kor soldier/ally? 4/4 angels, 2/2 wolves, 0/1 goats, 0/1 plants, goblins for sure, 1/1 faerie rogues maybe...? personally i also want 3/3 elephants :3

What I use in my decks are Young Pyromancer's 1/1 Elementals, Talrand's 2/2 Drakes, Rite of Replication copy tokens (or copy tokens in general, like fir Mirrorworks), 2/2 Wolves, 3/3 Beast for Beast Within, 0/1 Plants, 1/1 Saprolings, 0/1 Eldrazi Spawn, 1/1 Eldrazi Scions, */* Demon from Reign of the Pit, 2/2 Zombies, 1/1 Flying Spirits, 1/1 Thopters, Blue 1/1 Thopters, 2/1 Lifelink Vampires from Sorin Lord of Innistrad, 1/1 Assassins from Vraska, 2/2 White Knight Allies, 1/1 Kor Allies, and 1/1 Soldier Allies.

3/3 green Elephants for terastodon, 1/1 Elf Warriors, in both green and green/white because Rhys, */* copy for rite of replication or fated infatuation, 1/1 soldiers. 1/1 merfolk wizard, 2/2 zombie, 1/1 spirits (flying), 3/3 wurm (deathtouch/lifelink). 1/1 goblin for mob boss. Honestly anything that can be tribal usually has an EDH deck, for me I'd want a 1/1 rat for my Marrow Gnawer, and a reprint of the packrats I had in there but can't seem to find anymore. [the ones on the roof laughing evilly.

Emblems for all the planeswalkers would be nice but perhaps too much work. Maybe a universal "Planeswalker Emblem" token. Clones are always usable. 5/3 Elemental from Titania, Protector of Argoth. Experience Counters from Commander 2015. 5/5 and 4/4 Dragons. 1/1 Soldiers and Saprolings. 0/1 Plant and Goat tokens. 2/2 Zombies. *\* Horror tokens. In all honesty, Commander tokens should be tokens that are relatively unplayed except in EDH. Everything else (like 3/3 Wurmcoil tokens) are played in other formats and other people can get these through Patreon or GP's (maybe?). A good way of determining which tokens to make is to look at what tokens were included in the Commander premade decks, especially the cards that were made specifically for those sets.

A lot of commander players would appreciate old obscure tokens that don't have a physical printing. A legendary avatar (Kaldra), minor demon, sand warrior, prism, citizen, serf, etc.

Also I'd LOVE a khans/dragons marker that I can flip and stick under my sieges to show which option has been chosen. Or maybe a khan marker and a dragon marker.

Seconding the Hippos. Sand Warriors for Hazezon Tamar would be neat too. There's a few other token-makers that are on the reserved list that are unlikely to ever see "official" tokens printed for them, so also 0/1 black Insects for Carrion, 0/1 Wood tokens for Jungle Patrol, maybe some other weird tokens like Splinter, Orb, Survivor, Minor Demon (though who knows if anyone actually plays with those cards). A 5/5 blue Dragon for Tatsumasa, the Dragon's Fang would be neat too. Oh, and as a guy who plays Sliver Queen I could always use more Sliver tokens. Maybe the new design slivers? I know they get a lot of hate but I think they're a good concept when done properly - drawn less like humanoids and more like something trying to pass itself off as human like the cockroaches in Del Toro's Mimic.

Universal Planswalker token would be neat since almost everyone EDH playerwould use it. Some tokens I use are 1/1 soldiers, 1/1 cats, 5/5 Elementals, 1/1 Saproling, and 1/1 goblin.

I'd vote for 0/1 kobolds, clue's, 1/2 spiders, 8/8 beast, x/x avatar, 1/1 thallid and the 6/12 trample construct (OK, that one is really obscure, but if I don't try to push it no-one will). I'd also love to see the 1/1 hippo's.

Some more generic tokens would be nice to have, so there's no confusion when having copies of creatures and actual tokens on the field.
