Kickstarter Swag AND Weird News From Backerkit (Patreon)

Dear heroes.

First, the Good News

It turns everyone can preorder UVG swag / books / dice / and more at the post-KS backerkit store! This is great!

You can go there. Your friends can go there. Everyone. On the note of everyone ... if we could get a few more hundred folks to splurge on the super old-school roman numeralesque dice, that'd be great. Particularly all the different purple+color combinations ^_^. The breakdown of dice ordered is currently about 700 blackpinks, and 200 of each of the others. If we push the number of the purple ones higher, it brings production costs way down.

Second, the Terribly Annoying News

You all remember how we tried to figure out how to make a reasonable discount for you, as prior backers of the UVG? Then, because it turned out we couldn't make a code-accessible tier for backers—and didn't want to play around with the risks inherent in a limited time offer (running out!).

So, we thought, well: backerkit makes a storefront and makes things easy. We'll use that to set up a discount code! After all, even shopify does that, and we used that for Witchburner.

Then, after paying a lot of money for Backerkit and spending an incredible amount of time setting it up and after they went live with our store without our confirmation and with incorrect shipping costs for all of Europe, pretty much (which couldn't be refunded, to make things even better, since Backerkit has no refund options, so we're doing that manually with PayPal after we close Backerkit), after that ... we discover that Backerkit has no options for discounts.

None.

So what we're doing is ... manual $5 PayPal rebates to all patreon backers who also backed the kickstarter to represent an average discount of 10% on the book and shipping.

[... this is so embarrassingly stupid in 2019, I can't believe this is literally the easiest option with Backerkit at this point O_O]

We need them to verify that we've got the right people the right rebates. After we finish PayPalling everyone their rebates, I'm going to post an update announcing it and checking with everyone that they've received their rebate. Then I'm going to delete the form and the spreadsheet.]
• Matt will check you're the right person. Please only submit the form once, so it doesn't get too messy.
• Then Backerkit will charge you the full price for UVG shipping.
• Then Matt will manually rebate $5 to your PayPal account.

[oh god ... I am so sorry. This is so stupid and convoluted. Honestly, if I had had an inkling that Backerkit was this ... minimalist. Ugh.]

Ok, to offset it a bit: if you fill out the form, there's an option to submit a character or creature or vehicle or something. I'm going to randomly pick one of those and draw it. That person will get a non-exclusive license to use it as they will—and I'll sneak it somewhere into the UVG or Longwinter, depending on where it fits better.
