Be ye fiend or friend?

Hello damned souls one and all! Welcome back to Brimspur. This is part 2 of our second annual three-part Halloween spooky setting. This release is all about that intersection of wild west and hell. We've got all your standards here: the main drag of the frontier town, a cavalcade of prototypical characters, and music for high noon showdowns. Does hell have "high noon"? Probably not. Anyway! Let's take a look.

Borough Guide

A Borough Bound first: this borough guide is entirely filled with NPCs. In lieu of mechanics, points of interest, plot hooks, or any of that other juicy narrative content we usually use to fill our borough guides, this one is 100% hellish weirdos, with stunning art by our NPC illustrator Rachel and bonkers characters by our writer Will. If you've ever had trouble populating hellish domains with infernal wildcards, look no further. The 21 outcasts, desperados, generals, eldritch abominations, preachers, vampires, and ghastly legends in this document should have you covered.

Maps

Our primary map showcases the main drag of Brimspur. It's the classic wild west trope: simple wooden buildings astride a single central road. Of course, it's flanked by hellfire, or the associated boundary of your choice (depending on variant). All of our Brimspur maps have a slew of variants: massacre (aka "bloody"), misty, desert, desert massacre, sandstorm, forest, winter, Shadowfell, void, and Styx

Patrons at the Chief Courier tier also gain access to interior maps for 6 (!) different buildings: a  bank, a bar, a gunsmith, a home, a market, and a warehouse. Each of these is slightly hellish in nature, but you should have no trouble using them in traditional western campaign as well. NOTE: This content bundle is yet again huge, so we had to include the interior maps as a separate download.

Music

People often joke that the BB team should swap roles for an April Fools release. Well, that wouldn't necessarily work as intended, because our mapmaker James is also a stellar musician. Our track this week is a collaboration between our typical composer Will, our mapmaker James, and friend-of-the-team Ollie aka Crooked Worlds. Ollie is currently working on building up his own library of RPG music for you all to use in-game. We'll definitely notify you when his excellent music is more widely available. In the meantime, please enjoy this classic Western tune "Damned and Dusty."

Patrons at the Chief Courier tier also gain access to two additional miniature tracks:

  • The Straight Road Was Lost - a spooky, ambient tune that gives off frontier dungeon vibes
  • Cruel Valleys - your requisite badass Western theme song
