That DiTerlizzi mind flayer illustration is lovely. As far as I know the Elder Brain did not received full stats until Monstrous Arcana: The Illithiad, which came out in the late 1990s. That said, I highly recommend going over some of the setting specific Monstrous Compendium appendices. There's some great stuff there, especially in the Spelljammer, Ravenloft, and Planescape ones.

Those ones, together with perhaps Dark Sun, are the ones on my list! I might not do them all in a row, though. One appendix, then something else, then another, maybe.
