Our journey through the Greek Mythos section of Deities and Demigods continues! One thing you may notice about these episodes is that I haven't talked much about how these goods appear in the book itself. That's largely because the entries are very much what you'd expect. Which ... is good, I suppose?

Ares as Mars under the Romans is a much more important deity. And nothing like the doofus he was in Xena: Warrior Princess.

Yes, he's a much more ... I don't want to say uncomplicated deity in Roman myth, but maybe much more what you'd expect. I think the somewhat uncomfortable portrayal of Ares in Greek myth is really interesting and ties back to some of the issues discussed in the Emerging Gods special.
