Personally, my patience for the name "Verbeeg" is somewhat mitigated if it's a joke in-game as well. As in if an NPC actually said "yeah those are the Verbeegs, we call 'em that 'cause they're very big," chortle. People do like to give things in nature dumb nicknames. Case in point: almost every animal name in German.
