Here's a thought for the book after MM2, how about the 1986 TSR Creature Catalogue by Jim Bambra, Phil Gallagher and Graeme Morris?

Did I not mention that one? Maybe I called it the Creature "Compendium" in the show, but that's the one I meant! I haven't even really read it, but a) I may be starting an Old School Essentials game some time this winter, and b) I'm always interested in the British D&D material, so it would be well worth a read.

Ah, yes, I thought you meant the 2e compendium.
