As someone who works for a very large successful company the statement “ all of apple departments must be working at max efficiency “ made me spit out my water I was drinking.

Thrill_I_Am

Let me blow your mind a little bit more. Courage actually got famous because he won a Mr. Beast challenge. He went from like 1500 viewer aversge to 10k average overnight because he won i believe a 30k fortnite match playing solo.

It gives me relief that you guys are still thinking of you're careers and what you guys are really passionate about, I'm 19 and feel this pressure of needing to know what I want to do constantly. Mostly I think the pressure comes from family that I can't shake.

George

I firmly believe that roman from succession is just slime if he did black tar heroin

those short story ads definitely exist, and especially for Apple, they make a ton of them and whenever they come out, they used to play them at the beginning of every shift when i used to work at an apple store, so we saw them constantly. For Apple it always came across as more about the brand image than anything, and they have basically infinite money, so it's hard to compare them to everybody else

Luke Callaghan

Great ep. Both the yard main pod and especially the patreon have been bangers lately

Nick where'd u get those jeans they look sick

I'm here for Slime's content creation endeavors

I had a math professor that made his own textbook, hand spiral bound them and sold them at the bookstore at cost. If you wanted the pdf instead of a physical book that was free.

This is one of my favorite premium videos. Maybe just a favorite in general, but I'm not 100% sure why. I think it's because there's more serious discussion about topics they're each passionate about. It might just be the screw company bit though

kai is a horrible fkin person its so sad all his dick riders still see nothing wrong with how he "handled" the situation he's just as disgusting as his rapist friend i can't even enjoy the streaming/YT community anymore when ppl bring up that disgusting bastard

Scott

Massive underestimate on Maximilian_DOOD he streams like 10-17k viewers. Also even though Slime can be the funniest on the Yard I don't think it translates that well to constant content creator grind, it's like easy to say way harder to do type thing.

The first part of this pod is probably the most "well-off person" conversation you guys have had. Most people definitely need to make money first so they can survive, I don't think they could "do what they love and get money later" as Nick said. With that said great content as always and I'm glad you all are doing well.

if slime becomes a content creator can he unblock me pls

Spagetti

I’m just a little confused here, can I get some clarity on what kind of screws I’m counting? Are we talking machine, sheet metal, caps, or all of the above?

Anonymous

I would watch Content Creator Slime, especially if his content expands beyond gaming. There's no doubt he has the personality/comedic skill for it. Mogul Mail? SLIME POSTAL

mfs will literally stop being a hater for a month and rethink there whole purpose on this planet

I would mainline any any all Slime content like I am a heroin addict and his content is that sweet sweet smack

I think Nick's right on the money about that type of big spending being low-value for marketing departments, but I'm not 100% sure it translates to it disappearing soon. The conclusion the guys came to about corporations just being full of dumb people is really just true. Thanks to work for a consulting firm I got exposure to the internals at tons of different companies, and this type of low-value spend happens *so often* and for *so many different reasons,* even in examples that are way more cut-and-dry than the big-ish budget ads Nick is describing, and in departments that are way more cost-constrained than marketing. And it'll happen even when people are generally aware that the item is low-value. It's super-resilient; you'll see a category of spending that is CLEARLY low value that nonetheless survives multiple leadership turnovers, heavy budget cuts, etc. (Hell, as a consultant, I was being paid thanks to tons of low value spend.) Happens for a bunch of reasons, like I said, including stuff as simple as "we need to spend out the last of the budget so that it stays the same next year" or "this will look good when I jump ship." Anyways, I'm sure the opportunities Nick is talking about will contract over time as more people come to agree with him that they are low value/as the boomers disappear from the workplace, but I'm not sure it'll happen quickly or that it'll ever totally disappear. But it definitely could happen. I was too young during the recession; maybe that type of situation is enough of a shock or restrains budgets so severely that this stuff actually disappears.

Garrett

honestly, what great conversation. i was so interested. i like when the funny gets put on the backburner in place of genuine conversation

Nash Domenichelli

big fan of the episodes where you explain industry stuff like this one, thanks :)

i'm not sure if this necessarily answers nick's question regarding the ads, but i work for a large makeup corporation that as part of our training is to basically watch ads for products that are new or we're told to push more for customers. these ads are specifically made for our company or other cosmetic companies that are trying to sell their brands. they're not your standard training video, they are sometimes 5+ minute long ads that clearly cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. it's possible that the reason no one seems to be watching those is because they're being sold to other corporations that partner with those brands

mateo

if slime leaves the pod ill be depressed .. atleast until the zuck replaces him also the screw man arc was golden .

stopnads

IMO the answer for slimes content is for him to review videos/comedy/books/whatever his viewers send in, and tear them apart (honestly though.) It is consensual, like he said it has to be, but still fits the niche.

Anonymous

I think Slime could stand to fill a big part of the content hole/vacuum that bigA (rest his soul) left, even though it feels like a very cynical take. While he wouldnt be marketing guy, the content sphere is adjacent enough that he stands to gain a potentially very quick audience spurt.

makaveli

I think Slime's content niche and process is ancillary to his identity and perspective that when applied to anything could be great. His Valorant videos are the only "gaming content" videos that I return to on a consistent basis

Garrett

Big A is coming back. may not be like it was before, but he plans on returning to content creation; he said he's still passionate about it, plus he still has bills/employees to pay

Kassie Richwine

I know I'm back-watching so my comment probably won't get viewed by anyone. Still, as someone in college and thinking about my career for the first time I think what they talked about is really helpful/enlightening about making sure you strike a balance between making money and doing the things you're passionate about. However those things interlink is up to you which is really important to remember. Good stuff

I think this was a perfect premo episode because while it does have a focus on being a Youtuber, the humor that the guys use to balance out the admittedly heavy topic of career aspirations and goals, with bits like going into screw business brings an equilibrium that cannot be achieved through a normal episode.
