"shallowskin" Series Annoucement; Relaunching This Patreon Next Month (Patreon)
Content
I will be formally launching a new webcomic in June, called shallowskin, and as Poppy is no longer updating, starting in May, this patreon will be rebranded to reflect my new series. I will be unlocking all Poppy posts and keeping them up as a public archive.
shallowskin will be a 4-panel B/W strip that will be updating every weekday, centering around the duo of Merril (the selkie) and Browne (the brownie). Compared to Poppy, it will be more focused on interpersonal dynamics and less on ongoing plot, and will also be more overtly adult-oriented in content (ie: expect swearing, racy gags, and nonsexual nudity, I'm not exactly looking to get syndicated here lmao).
I've been drawing art featuring Merril and Browne on the side for almost 10 years now, so some of you may already familiar with them, which is why I'd also like to say that this strip is not a prequel to that material, this is a fresh canon with some slightly altered history/characterization.
As for how this Patreon in particular will change, I will be toggling on the "adult content" setting once the comic launches to reflect the subject matter, and I will be changing pledges from "per page" to "monthly."
What this means for current pledges:
If you want to go ahead and just carry pledges over into my next work, great!! Currently, my planned tiers are a $2 tier that will get you access to strips a week early and a $10 tier that will get you access to the sketch versions of strips a MONTH (five weeks, to be exact) early. Further rewards will be decided as things progress. I will make a public post during next month's relaunch when those tiers become available, so please keep an eye out then!
If you're not interested, no problem! Here's a one-month grace period to withdraw your pledges before I go full steam ahead in May. Even if you're cutting off your pledge here, I want to thank you all so much for your support over the years. I admit that I ended Poppy at a pretty rough emotional point in my life, but I'm pleased to say that I will be starting shallowskin much happier and healthier.
